A very key part of the history of humanity is the ability to express oneself. Dating to ancient times, the need for a form of 'documented' expression is what gave birth to hieroglyphics, and today, there are a vast number of ways by which people can express their opinions and perspective. Since we all do not have the same interest and points of view, the form of expression that we are most inclined to differs from person to person. The invention of a technology that was able to create an image by the action of light falling on a photosensitive surface, which is usually a photographic film or an electronic image sensor, is what brought to life the form of expression that is now known as photography. The advancement of the understanding of this technology brought about the production of cameras, which is made to use a lens to focus the visible wavelength of light on the scene, into a reproduction that can be seen with the human eyes. Photography has therefore grown into a form of expression that can be carried out by anybody with access to a camera. Even our mobile phones are equipped with cameras, although, practising at a professional level requires some level of training and access to a standard camera. While photographs are taken by various people and for various purposes, some photographs are often supplied and licensed for special uses. Such photographs are known as Stock photographs. The industry began in the 1920s and has since established various models such as traditional macro-stock photography, mid stock photography, and microstock photography. Microstock photography, otherwise known as micropayment photography, differs from other models of the stock industry because they source for their images almost exclusively via the Internet and they do so from a wider range of photographers compared to the other models. They allow images from not only professionals and they sell their image for a low rate compared to the other models. Bigstock is an example of a microstock agency and reading reviews of Bigstock would help you get more understanding of their services.
