Are you someone that enjoys fixing things instead of simply replacing them? That attitude of fixing and reusing things is at the heart of Sugru's philosophy, a manufacturer of a mouldable glue that helps peoples DIY capabilities, modifying and patching up their belongings using a material that combines putty and super glue. If you are interested in trying out their Sugru substance, read the reviews below or read on to hear their story.
Sugru's story begins with the co-founder Jane Ní Dhulchaointigh at the Royal College of Art in London studying Product Design, when she began experimenting with mixing glues, silicones, wood dust and caulk. Though it was initially a very messy, and bad smelling substance, by the time of Jane's final project in 2004, she decided to refine the idea and present it. It got a good reaction from her examiners, so she took the idea the idea further and started drawing on expertise from recently retired experts from the field of silicon production, who knew far more about the material and could make the product manufacturable. In 2005, Sugru was awarded £35,000 by Nesta, an innovation think tank, to help them launch the product. After a lot of pilot projects with large corporations, and many prototypes, the company nearly went under in the 2008 economic recession, but recieved just enough investment to get the company into small-scale production. Amazingly, they sold their first 1000 packages in 6 hours. This led to more investment, better facilies and the company has been growing ever since. They were listed alongside the iPad as the top 50 inventions of 2010, and the inaugural London Design Festival 'Design Entrepreneur' award in 2012.

Services of Sugru
All of Sugru's research, development and investment has gone towards their one multi-purpose product; Sugru. The name comes from the Irish word for 'play' and has been used by people in all industries. It is water resistant, heat and cold resistant, between the temperatice of −50 and 180 °C, and has a shelf life of up to 13 months in the packet, or if refrigeraare can be triple that. The way it works is the customers removes the substance from the packet, sticks it to a surface, which can be ceramic, glass, metal, wood or most plastic and fabrics. They then have 30 minutes to mould the substance into whatever shape they want, and after drying for 24 hours becomes a durable, flexible silicon ribber that stays stuck
On their website, the product can be bought in packets of 3 or 8, or in gift and combo sets, with any selection of colours. The website not only explain the story and uses of their product, but also tells stories of other customers and the uses they have found for Sugru.
