EE Home Broadband

Staying connected is important (if not essential) for many Britons. EE Home Broadband offers television, line rental, calls and internet. But how reliable is this service? Is it a great deal or overcharged? How does EE Home Broadband’s speed compare to its competitors? Find out by reading reviews and opinions!

About EE Home Broadband
EE Home Broadband is a service of EE Limited, which was established in 2010 by Deutsche Telekom and Orange S.A. EE Limited is part of the BT Group since 2016. The broadband service is inherited from Orange UK.

EE claims to be the biggest and fastest mobile network in the UK with its 4G network and ADSL broadband service. It is under the supervision of Marc Allera, who used to work in the video game industry before joining EE in 2011. He also mentors several technology start-ups.

Service
There are three different EE Home Broadband plans. With the Broadband plan, you can reach a speed up to 17 Mb/s, serve one or two decives and pay £21 for 18 months.

With the Fibre Broadband plan, a speed up to 38 Mb/s can be reached across multiple devices. You pay £28.50 for 18 months.

If you want even faster speeds, you can get the Fibre Plus Broadband plan, its speed can reach 76Mb/s. This is also suitable for big households. The Fibre Plus Broadband plan costs £32.50 for 18 months.

The Broadband plan has an upfront cost of £7, while the Fibre Broadband and Fibre Plus Broadband plan have an upfront cost of £32.

Monthly line rental, unlimited data usage and downloading and weekend calls to UK landlines are included in all plans. In addition, you receive a data boost of 5GB to the customer’s EE monthly mobile plan.

If you want to reach UK landlines all week, not just on the weekend’s, then you can add “Anytime and Mobile calls” for £6.50 per month. You pay £8 for exclusive access to EE TV. EE TV allows you to pause, rewind and record, subscribe to pay TV (such as Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, Sky Atlantic and Sky Kids) and enjoy 70 free channels. On Demand channels such as the BBC iPlayer, Demand 5 and YouTube are also available.

EE Home Broadband promises that it is very easy to switch and that you are not even required to notify your current provider. An installation visit is equally unnecessary.

If you have EE Home Broadband and are experiencing difficulties connecting to the internet, this video should help. Does it?

Concerns, comments, opinions and experiences
Several common questions are answered on EE Home Broadband’s website. These questions concern the different offers, how to switch to EE Broadband, whether you can keep your phone number, how long it takes for the router to arrive and whether the data allowance is really unlimited. Extensive information is also provided regarding what calls are included in the plan.

For support, you can call 150 on your mobile phone (if you’re an EE subscriber), or 0800 079 8586 when you are calling from a landline. Calling from an EE landline is always free, calling from an EE mobile phone number is free during EE’s standard opening hours (8am to 9pm on weekdays and 8am to 8pm on weekends). If you have another provider, you should call 0207 362 0200 but check with your provider to see if there are any charges.

Key points to consider when choosing a telecom provider

There are currently so many companies offering telecom services and so many marketing techniques to catch hold of new customers, which makes it harder to see through the many offers and decide which provider to choose. The most relevant thing to keep in mind is that the provider should be a company that aligns best with your needs. Here are three basic qualities to look for when choosing a service provider:

Network reliability - check that the network is a fully converged one with a consolidated infrastructure that includes IP, Ethernet and optical technologies. Network convergence includes the coexistence of video, voice and data communication. Also, security and stability is a main concern, so always check that the network has all the needed protection to prevent service attacks, that it has the ability to restore their services fast with minimum or no impact to your activity and that the systems are constantly updated to offer the latest technology so it avoids performance issues and won’t stall the growth of your business.

Offers and support -  check what products and services are provided by the company that best suit your needs. Telecom providers should offer a good amount of customization and options for their products and services that adapt to your specific needs. Some of us need more data, some need more voice, some need faster internet, etc. Make sure you are choosing the best option depending on your activity and that these options also don’t come with unnecessary burdens of services and expenses that you aren’t interested in.

Customer support - make sure they have quality customer support. There are so many occasions in which a client doesn’t get offered the best products or the assistance they need just because the company doesn’t consider the importance of keeping their clients happy and helping them when in need. Customer support should be effective, treat you with respect and have communication skills. This is essential to make sure your experience with your provider turns out to be a positive one.

Considering these main points should help you decide the right telecom provider for your home or business. Another great way to help you decide your network provider is to read customer reviews about these companies. Here are some telecom services that you may want to look into:
