The first Apex Hotel was opening in 1996, in a square in Edinburgh called Grassmarket. It was founded by Norman Springford, a former account, and is still owned and run by him and his family. Since their beginnings as a budget hotel establishment in the centre of Edinburgh, they have invested in making their establishments four star destinations, with increasing services and choice. The nine branches have also won a range of awards for their hospitality, culinary standards and other services, from the likes of the European Hospitality Awards, The Guardian Travel Awards, and the Scottish hotel Awards, as well as many Trip Advisor awards. There is also a plan to open their 10th hotel branch in Bath in 2017, which will be home to Bath’s largest purpose-built conference space. The business also prides itself on their environmental and social responsibility, implementing eco-friendly policies where possible, with recycling and energy, and partnering with sustainable and ethical suppliers which support fair trade.
