The cookout ended before it started. While putting the Captiva tabletop grill together, the regulator failed and dumped the propane from the bottle. Not ideal, and obviously not something I was prepared to ignore. I assumed getting the part replaced would be straightforward, but that was where it got worse. Amazon had nothing, and neither did the usual searches, Lowe’s, Home Depot or local hardware shops. Apparently the regulator only comes via Alphamart. Their phone line is an automated message promising a call back; none came. I emailed photos, the manual, everything they might need, and heard nothing at all. Their website seems perfectly happy to sell another grill, just not help with this one. I’ve had slow support from other companies, but at least someone eventually replied. This is now an unusable grill and a fairly expensive bit of garden clutter.
Saved our barbecue weekend
I was a bit gutted when the grill arrived with damage, especially as both lids and the main section had taken a knock in transit. Still, AlphaMarts were really easy to deal with. I sent them the details, they replied quickly, and the replacement bits turned up just two days later. Fitting everything was straightforward and it now feels like the grill we expected in the first place. It is fairly light, so it can feel a little less solid than the pricier models, but honestly that is part of why it is easy to move about. For the money, it cooks well and should do us nicely for a good few summers.
The refund took far too much pushing
I first spotted this canopy on their website while comparing a few options, and I was already a bit wary about relying on the listed size. Still, it looked decent enough and I placed the order. To be fair, delivery was quicker than the estimate and the package had all the parts. The material itself seemed perfectly alright too.
Nearly there
tracking showed odd entries, a weird signature and a RECON note, phone calls that didn’t quite resolve anything, and in the end the parcel was returned to sender. Alpha Mart refunded the full amount quickly, which was a relief. I never actually put it up yet, so I can only go by the photos and what I imagine — the frame looked beefy, the panels thick, and I’m pretty sure it would feel solid once assembled (I was wondering how the bolts would line up and whether you’d need an extra pair of hands). Not flawless — carrier communication let it down — but Alpha Mart’s team were calm, helpful and honest. We’ve since got HOA clearance, so if we order again I won’t hesitate.
