heavy canvas, cosy lining, roomy pockets where you actually can shove tools or a phone. Thing is, they were a touch too big on me, so we boxed them up to return. And, well, I’d accidentally left the GoPro in the box. Classic. I rang customer service straight away and they noted it on the account, which helped, but then it went quiet and I spent a few anxious weeks wondering if I’d never see the camera again. When it did turn up at our door — returned safely — I felt ridiculously relieved. Not everything was perfect: updates could’ve been quicker and I had to chase once, but the staff who tracked the return and got the GoPro back deserve credit. The vest fabric and pockets are great in use, even if the sizing wasn’t spot on. Overall a human, practical experience — a bit tense, but fixed in the end.
Rough start, decent finish
send them in, we'll decide within 14 days. That annoyed me; I work long shifts and couldn't face the faff. I nearly went off and bought cheap replacements from the farm shop. But I stuck it out, sent photos as requested, chased once, and they actually followed through faster than that second message implied. In the end replacements arrived and fit well. So yeah, I was sceptical — fairly grumpy about the back-and-forth — but it ended up sorted, which kept me on their side. Tip if you're busy: take clear photos straight away and be ready to push for updates. Would I buy again? Probably, but I’d keep an eye on seams. Also, nicer packaging than I'd thought.
not worth the wait
don’t expect a quick fix — took months and zero closure. I’m saying that first because it’s the point. I sent photos, measurements, all the details they asked for, promptly — and then waited. A week passed, another one-liner, another week, and repeat. After a month they finally told me their repair policy: anything over 3 inches isn’t repairable. Fine, except I wasn’t told that at the start. Two months in they said I could send the bibs in to be considered for an exchange. Three weeks after that they said UPS would send me a return label. Still waiting. Seriously, still waiting. Meanwhile I’m halfway through the ski season wearing ancient Burton trousers that don’t have the stretch I want but at least they’re not ripped down the back. I can’t help thinking, if I rang Burton or another brand I’d probably have a solution in days, maybe a week. I’ve been buying from this company since the early 90s — ranch kid turned backcountry fan — and I’ve spent a decent chunk with them over the years, so this handling stings. It’s the slow drip of one-line replies and the mismatch between what they promise and what actually happens that lost me. A small request, properly handled, would’ve sorted it — instead it’s been a string of “we’ll check” and radio silence. If you’re hard on bibs and want a retailer that actually moves when things go wrong, ask around, look elsewhere. My advice: keep receipts, take photos, and don’t expect miracles.
Not the smooth Black Friday buy I hoped for
fill in a form from the courier, sign it, print it off, confirm under penalty of fraud you haven’t got your parcel. Asking customers to sign that seems like passing the buck, and the printing requirement in this day and age felt ridiculous. I get that retailers and couriers have different contracts, but it still felt like the customer was being shoved between them. I did get replies, and not everyone was unhelpful — one person was actually polite and tried to explain the process — so it wasn’t all stonewalling. Even so, the timeframe for refunds and the “wait 21 working days” line I read in other replies is frustrating; I wouldn’t expect to be out of pocket for over a month.
So did my pre-purchase worries go away? Not really. The coat was something I liked, but the handling and the hoops they made me jump through left a sour taste. I’ll probably avoid ordering direct from them again until they sort out their delivery and claims process.
