Seeing the balance marked as paid while my bank account stayed empty was a bit baffling, to be honest. I’d been with ylive for years and never had cause to worry; surveys were worthwhile enough and payments normally turned up without chasing. I assumed I’d entered something wrongly, after a poor experience with another panel, but the payment date shows 1 November. I’ve sent messages and, so far, heard nothing back. It may be a delay or banking issue, but the lack of reply is frustrating. I’d usually recommend them, though I’m waiting to see this sorted.
Points vanished after the finish line
I signed up because I needed a bit of extra cash after moving house, and surveys seemed easy enough. Mostly it’s fine, but one survey took me nearly half an hour and, once I’d finished, the points simply didn’t appear. Bit like doing a crossword and someone nicking it at the last clue. I contacted support twice and heard absolutely nothing back, which is the annoying part. A mate had the same issue recently, so it doesn’t feel like a one-off. Glad I didn’t rely on it for anything important, honestly.
Nearly ditched it, but still using
lots of surveys that boot you out after five minutes or, worst, a page timeout right near the end so your few quid vanishes. Yesterday I had about four come through and three disqualified me early on, then one timed out at the end and my £3 reward was lost. Frustrating, yes. Still, it's handy for spare cash, the interface is simple and some surveys do pay fairly quickly. It's not perfect — timeouts are maddening — but I'll stick around. My wish: let participants resume or extend time, please. That would make a real difference.
Not the quickest way to spend your tea break
I was mid-sip of my tea when an email popped up — another invite from Y Live. I’d been on the fence about their surveys for ages because every time I start one it feels like answering an interview for a job I don’t want. Still, I thought I’d give it a go since I often fill surveys while waiting for the kettle or on the bus home. Big mistake? Well, predictable mistake. They ask loads of pre-qualifying questions, you commit seven minutes (or so), and then—bam—“sorry, you’re not eligible”. Again. I did wonder if the “we value your participation” line was written by someone very committed to irony. Yes, they say rejected entries go into a prize draw, but there’s no receipt or anything, and that makes you squint a bit, doesn’t it? My doubts before starting were solid — I expected to be bounced — and those doubts mostly came true. Still, sometimes you need to try, because one day you might actually qualify. For now I’ll keep doing them in spare moments, annoyed but oddly hopeful, and slightly resigned to the wasted minutes. It’s a bit of a faff, but not the end of the world.
