Not what I expected, but not all bad

I nearly didn’t book this hotel. I’d read a mix of reviews and was wary about the “all‑inclusive” wording — what that actually includes can be vague — so I called ahead and still wasn’t completely reassured. That niggling doubt stayed with me until check‑in, and to be honest some of it was justified, some of it turned out to be plain frustration, and some parts actually worked out fine.

    Locked-in let-down

I’d booked this place after a mate flagged it on a travel forum, so I went in with reasonable expectations. We ended up stuck in room 340 for six days mid-holiday when the pandemic situation tightened up; that turned the rest of our four-week trip into something very different. The thing that worried me most was the way my husband’s food allergies were handled — we told guest relations (Miriam and Lisa were aware) yet the restaurant didn’t list ingredients properly and the manager seemed unaware or unconcerned. That felt careless, not just annoying, because allergies aren’t trivia.
Other parts were a mixed bag. The all-inclusive options shrank, pools were closed, and birds regularly nabbed food round the Arena Pool Bar which is a hygiene issue. Maintenance removed the bedside reading light without explaining why, the patio door wouldn’t lock, the balcony had a wide crack you could fit your fingers into, and there was a chip in the bath enamel and almost no drawer space. Small things, but they add up and give a shabby impression.
I tried to raise it with management — a hand-delivered letter to Jorge Mora got no reply, and a receptionist refused to refund the unused portion of our safe deposit (we’re owed 15 days). I did tell a sister to look elsewhere after this, which is a shame because on paper the hotel could be much better. It’s not unusable, things mostly function, but it’s far from the polished place they advertise and needs proper follow-through on safety and basic maintenance.

Not great for sleep, but not a disaster either

if you want peace and quiet, look elsewhere. That said, it wasn’t the total nightmare I feared. I first saw the place on a beachfront roundup and my partner flagged it as “nice” — we went, a bit sceptical, and I even told a mate about the view. The location is genuinely excellent, right by the sand, and the room itself is fine. The problem is the evening noise; the hotel bar blasts music late and it carries into the rooms, yes. We put the kids down and then realised bedtime wasn’t happening, not unless we got lucky. We complained at reception, they listened, did little, and you see other parents doing the same — so it’s not just us. Still, after a few nights you adapt, you get earplugs, you move bedtime, whatever. Staff were polite if not very proactive, and cleaning and facilities were fine. Price felt reasonable for the area, even if it didn’t buy a quiet night. In short: great for daytime beach stuff, disappointing for restful evenings. If you accept the trade-off — location over silence — you might be fine. I left sceptical, ended up mostly satisfied, but I wouldn’t take toddlers who need strict bedtimes.
