Not as straightforward as it should be

I was halfway through laying the first row when I remembered I’d only meant to order a sample first — silly me. I’d actually spotted these tiles online, a friend had sent me the link and said “try them”, so I messaged the chat and they agreed to send one box as a sample. Two days later I get the whole lot, ten boxes, which was useful at the time but not what I’d asked for. The tiles didn’t sit right with me, they felt a bit cheap in person, so I asked about returns. That’s where things slowed right down. A week to get a reply with return instructions, then they said they’d send labels but I only got one for two boxes. It dragged on for weeks — eventually I paid extra to send back the missing box myself and posted everything to their warehouse. I emailed “Olivia” about reimbursing that shipping and I’m still waiting. Customer service responses are patchy, often a couple of days and sometimes a bit blunt. Delivery to me was fast, admittedly, but the aftercare and refunds are the problem. There’s a hint of “could be fine” in the product, and I was a little excited to try it, but the hassle afterwards soured the whole thing. If you’re just buying a sample, be extra clear and keep receipts. I’d say go to a local DIY store if you want fewer headaches.

    Bricks that surprise you

I almost laughed when I saw the packed panels in the hall — they’re much lighter than they look in photos. I first spotted these 3D brick tiles at a mate’s flat and then checked Commomy online, despite the mixed reviews I’d read. Installing them was honestly quite satisfying. The foam-ish texture feels a bit plasticky up close but has a decent tactile depth; from a few metres away it really reads like brick. Cutting was dead simple with a utility knife and a fine saw for the odd stubborn bit, and the self-adhesive backing stuck firmly once the drywall was properly prepped — a little pressure and they were on. One box had clearly been opened before delivery, and the printed brick image didn’t line up with the stamped pattern on a couple of panels, which was annoying. Luckily I’d ordered extra, so I managed to swap pieces and hide the odd mismatch. Customer service was a bit of a chore to get hold of, and returns sounded costly, so I’d warn to order spares. Overall I’m chuffed with the finished wall — it adds proper texture and warmth, and was good value for what it is. Would I buy again? Probably, but I’d be careful about quality control next time.

    Not what it looks like

the product is misrepresented and the returns process is set up to be a drain on your time and money. One useful thing: if you document everything (emails, photos, tracking) you’ll at least be in a stronger position if you need to dispute the charge with your card provider — I had to go that route. I do appreciate the site’s product range in principle, and some items might be fine, but for me the mismatch plus the stubborn returns policy outweigh any quick sale price. My advice: check other buyers’ photos, be ready to fight for a refund, or don’t expect the item to match the glossy pictures.

    Not what I expected, sadly

I needed new tiles because our little downstairs loo is falling apart and, with my dodgy back, I wanted something that would be easy to fit and look decent without a lot of heavy lifting. On paper their tiles seemed ideal — lightweight, inexpensive, and the photos made them look like a neat, seamless finish. In reality they arrived looking shiny and plasticky, and when we unpacked them (carefully, on a clean sheet as advised) you could see straight away they'd never sit flush. They read as individual squares rather than one neat panel — not the effect we wanted at all.
