I stumbled across this group on a local Facebook page and thought it might be a good, practical option for some peer support, so I signed up; simple enough, or so I thought. What really stuck with me — and annoyed me — was not the content (I never got that far) but the billing and the radio silence that followed. After paying, there was no confirmation email, no welcome message and no intake call. Nothing that would indicate an actual booking had been made. I shrugged it off at first, thinking maybe a glitch, then I tried to check in and got the runaround.
Left hanging after signing up
online therapy companies can be hit and miss, I read a few reviews, checked their site, and still had that nagging doubt about whether it was legitimate or just another subscription trap. I went ahead anyway because the timing fit around my shifts and I thought, if it’s rubbish I can always cancel. Simple, right? Turns out not so simple. After paying, there was no confirmation email. I checked spam, I waited a day, I even logged into the account on their site — nothing. No intake call, no onboarding, no calendar invite. At first I tried to be patient — maybe they were busy, maybe a delay. But after a week with zero contact I moved on and booked something with a different provider. Then the odd part: my card showed a charge from them. That’s when the doubts went from “maybe this won’t work” to “hang on, something’s off.” I contacted them and instead of a simple apology or a refund, I got a standard reply about how to “cancel membership.” It felt like they’d missed the point — I never received the service I paid for, so cancelling a membership didn’t make sense. I pushed back, asked for a refund, asked for evidence that any sessions had taken place, and got little useful information. The language was formal, almost legalistic, and offered no real empathy. For someone who signed up seeking support, that lack of human response stung. In daily life this mattered: I’d set aside evenings expecting a safe space to process stress with others, I’d mentally prepared for accountability and a routine, and none of that materialised. The financial hit was frustrating, but what rubbed me more was the breach of trust — therapy should be careful, ethical, clear. I know glitches happen, staff get busy, systems fail. I’m not after drama. But a company that handles vulnerable people needs clearer processes and quicker, kinder communication. If they’d been upfront, apologised, or refunded promptly, I’d have moved on with an annoyed shrug. Instead I’m left wary of similar services and a bit on edge about where else my details might be used. So, if you’re considering them, check carefully: demand confirmation, screenshots of scheduled sessions, and read the fine print about billing. My doubts before signing up were justified and, sadly, not resolved by the experience. There’s a real personal cost when you expect care and instead get silence and bureaucracy.
