my son faffed about with the Bluetooth for me), so I was optimistic. Then the reality check. The earbuds felt awkward for ages; I kept nudging them, waking myself up, and at first I thought I’d made a silly choice spending over £200. The sleep tracking also raised my eyebrow — it logged sleep starts that were frankly impossible when I was still switching sounds, so I questioned its accuracy. I did wonder if I’d been conned into buying an expensive app, honestly.
But here’s the thing: a couple of the guided meditations and some of the soundscapes are actually really lovely. There’s one particular soundscape that, on its better nights, genuinely helped me drift off. Not every night, mind you — but enough that I’m willing to keep using them. The masking function didn’t hide my partner’s snoring as well as I’d hoped, which is annoying, but the content itself is high quality. So my feelings flipped from “this is a waste” to “ok, maybe there’s value here” — slowly, and with a bit of stubbornness on my part to get value out of them.
I didn’t bother returning them because of the used policy, and yes I feel a bit daft about not checking every review site first — lesson learned. I’ve also ordered a Snoozeband as a backup (and yes, I did read more reviews this time), but I’m actually glad I kept these Kokoon ones; they’re imperfect, but they’ve helped me on nights when nothing else did. Overall a mixed bag, but with genuine positives that make me persevere.Good idea, bad fit
Fallen asleep with them once, woke with sore outer ear — that's the weird thing. I bought these sleep headphones to listen to podcasts and mellow music at night; I liked the idea and the soft fabric felt okay at first, but when I actually tried to wear them properly they dug into the cartilage behind my ear and around the folds. I tried different tips, moved them, even slept on my side for a bit (not comfortable). Returned them straight away — courier confirmed delivery months ago — but the company hasn't even said they got them. One short message blamed a supplier backlog, which felt like a shrug. It's annoying more than furious; the kit was nearly £200 so it's not nothing. If I don't hear back in a week I'll escalate. Otherwise they might work for someone else, but not for me.
