My mate pointed this place out, so I gave it a go early one morning. The cashier was really pleasant, which helped, but my cappuccino had a slightly stale, odd taste. The barista seemed quite distant too. It was very quiet inside, and I can sort of see why.
Nearly talked myself out of it
I popped in last Tuesday, unsure whether it would be another overly trendy café. The coffee was properly good and the chocolate croissant didn’t hang about. Music was a bit distracting for reading, though. Still, I’d happily come back.
Miso, but make it coffee
I nearly played it safe with a flat white, but the Brown Sugar Miso Latte sounded too odd to ignore. First sip was nice, then came this slightly savoury aftertaste. Bit strange, honestly, but it grew on me. The old building gives the place proper character too.
Better than I expected
I nearly walked past, assuming this old café would be more reputation than substance. Once I asked, they explained the bean choices properly, and the coffee was spot on. I now grab one during my usual mid-morning errands. Staff are a little quiet at first, but helpful. Glad I gave it a go.
Low-key decent
Decent place, though slightly pricey. I’d tried their beans at my sister-in-law's before, but first time in the shop, and tidy. Busy, people working and chatting — a bit of a hipster air, yes. Ordered an iced latte, about £7-ish, same as you'd expect at other premium spots; fair enough.
Half-brewed expectations
I wasn't sure about the Spring menu, especially the strawberry matcha cloud — thought it might be a gimmick. Took it on my commute as a mid-morning treat at my desk. Foam was decent but the matcha was barely there, mostly sweet strawberry. Boyfriend liked his cold brew. Doubts only partly gone.
Sceptic turned fan
I was unsure — had a rubbish takeaway matcha before and after moving house I needed a caffeine fix, so worried plant milks might mess it. I got a matcha with almond milk, husband a cappuccino with oat milk. They were spot on, custom options fixed my doubts, really liked it.
Morning pick
Really excellent, used first thing; smooth, slightly bitter.
