Overall it did what I needed, but the run-up was frustrating. I got my LLC paperwork back fast, which was great — I needed it to open a business bank account for my freelance design work. After that things went sideways. I never saw the £100 opening credit they promised. First I was told 4–6 weeks, then 90 days. I chased them a few times (yes, a few) and eventually asked them to cancel the monthly compliance monitoring because I didn’t trust it. Silence. Only when I warned I’d dispute the recurring charge with my credit card did they cancel. I’m glad the company exists and that the formation was quick, but the poor follow-up and the missing credit left a bad taste.
Nearly gave up, glad I stuck with it
A mate told me about BetterLegal when I mentioned setting up a company. I was wary — forms, fees and an online service made me nervous. I signed up and then kept missing little bits; phoned a couple of times and emailed more than I’d like. Honestly, I nearly walked away. It wasn’t until Abdul and Chad stepped in that things actually moved. They were calm, explained stuff slowly, had a bit of humour and didn’t make me feel stupid. They sorted the outstanding items and walked me through the rest. Still a few small hiccups but their help turned my scepticism into trust. If you’re starting a business and someone’s tipped you, give it a go — support was the difference for me and the price felt reasonable too.
Nearly lost faith, then it clicked
follow up persistently, check spam and be clear about deadlines. Would have liked quicker replies though.
Filing left unfinished, confusing replies
I used this formation service after a colleague suggested them — I saw the link in a Slack channel and thought it would be straightforward. In practice it felt like handing over a checklist and getting half the boxes ticked. I supplied names and addresses for the managers right at the start, with clear instructions, but the filed documents don't include that key info. When I spotted the registration on Sunbiz late on a Sunday, I emailed about the EIN and was told it was being processed with the IRS; later I received a contradictory note saying no Social Security number had been provided. That back-and-forth and inconsistency wasted time and left us without a legally complete operating structure. The document we were sent feels provisional — not a proper, final contract — and that’s a problem when you’re trying to open bank accounts and get contracts sorted. I’m annoyed, to be honest; this is basic handling for a filing service. Wouldn’t recommend until they tighten up communication and quality checks.
Skip the DBA, do it yourself
I wouldn't trust them with a DBA. They handled my initial company formation fine, but when it came to a simple name change/DBA they failed to file and communication collapsed. So, lesson learned — do the DBA yourself unless you want to chase them for weeks.
