    Great poncho, silly returns

Honestly, the poncho is brilliant and I absolutely love the knit—so cosy and heavier than I expected, which was a lovely surprise—but I'm not sure I'll buy from them again because of the return costs. I first spotted it on Instagram after a friend sent me a snap and I thought, yes, that looks great, and it arrived exactly like the photos. Quality feels proper, worth the £75 if you keep it. Problem was when I wanted a different colour; customer service suggested buying a £25 FedEx return that covers customs, so swapping felt stupidly expensive. Shame, because otherwise happy with it. I did tell a mate, but warned them.

    Not worth the bother

either the guide is wrong or the pieces vary wildly. Then the returns process: advised to use FedEx, but the local depot refused it on “security” grounds when I tried to drop it off. Switched to Royal Mail, waited nearly three weeks and it came back undelivered because of some customs “failure”, despite me ticking every box they asked for. Email replies are slow (couple of days) and phone contact is almost non-existent — one number didn’t work, another seems to be a trade line and no one picks up. I’ve returned stuff to other retailers without this palaver, so it’s disappointing and a bit infuriating. I just want a refund or an exchange, nothing dramatic.

A rocky start but a cosy finish

I remember putting it on the first time and thinking, oh no, not again — I’d bought a second Aran because I loved the cream one from last year and needed something warm for the damp Kerry winters. This slate grey arrived looking fine, but within days it started bobbling like mad (I hadn’t even washed it, you know, Arans don’t get washed every week). I complained, sent photos in September and at first the reply was a bit shruggy — “it’s normal, just shave it off” — which felt a bit lazy given my family’s history with hand-knitted jumpers. Anyhow, after nagging them they offered a partial refund/credit and suggested exchanging for another yarn they said was sturdier. The moment I actually felt satisfied was when the company followed through — polite email, the credit applied, and a different jumper turned up that isn’t perfect but it does the job. It still pills a little (annoying) and I’m not pretending it’s museum quality, but it’s warm, fits well and I don’t feel embarrassed wearing it to the shop anymore. So yeah, a bit of a faff, customer service could’ve been quicker and more understanding, but in the end it was sorted in a way that worked for me.

Nice fit, but the returns are a real faff

the site shows prices in pounds but tacks on extra tax at the end, which caught me out. Even worse is the returns setup — the label is FedEx Express and costs £25, and there isn’t a convenient drop-off near me, so it’s a proper trek. I asked customer service if they could extend the return window so I had time to get to a hub and they wouldn’t, which was disappointing. The kept cardigan looked good at first but has bobbled on the sleeves after a few wears, so I’m a bit miffed given the price. All in all I’m happy one size worked and it’s comfy, but the return cost and the quality let it down and made the whole thing more hassle than it needed to be.
