A birthday present that turned into a headache 8 October 2026

I honestly thought this would be a simple order. I bought a set of Cross Edge Pink pens as a birthday gift and ordered them well ahead of the date, so there should have been plenty of time. Instead, a completely different set arrived, and it was clearly a cheaper one as well. At first I tried not to jump to conclusions, because mistakes happen, right? But the way it was handled afterwards was the really frustrating bit. When I contacted the seller, they admitted the wrong pens had been sent, then said the price on the website had supposedly been incorrect and I’d need to pay extra for the item I had actually ordered. That didn’t sit right with me at all. Buy.com customer service said they would speak to the seller and sort it before the birthday. I waited, heard nothing, called again, and was promised another call back that never came. By the time I finally got a straight answer, the birthday had already passed and I was told there was nothing they could do because the pens were out of stock. They still appeared available when I checked, which made the whole thing feel even worse. Then I had to wait longer for a refund too. I’ve used eBay for years without anything remotely like this, so trying a different site definitely didn’t pay off here. The wrong item was annoying, but being passed around and repeatedly told it would be fixed was what really spoiled it.
