Booked a few bits here while I was travelling for work. The stuff itself was fine. I tried to return two items after I got back, which was 36 days after delivery. They were unused, still in the packaging. I explained my situation — work kept me away. The team refused flat out on policy grounds and said the 30-day rule is absolute. On top of that returns have to be taken to the Post Office, which is another hassle when you're juggling travel and family. Not the end of the world, the clothes felt okay, but the inflexibility put me off. If you travel a lot, beware; ask first.
Still got trousers I can’t wear
I popped into the Roman shop in Fareham to return a pair of trousers after the hem came undone after the first wear. I’d bought them because they fitted really well — I needed decent trousers for work and the fit was exactly what I was after, so I’d removed the labels straight away. Thought that was sensible, you know, to get them cleaned or worn. Anyway, when I went back with the receipt I was told they wouldn’t exchange them because the labels had been removed. That surprised me, I’ve had faulty items exchanged without fuss at other shops (M&S for example), and over the years I’ve spent quite a bit with Roman so I expected more. Rang customer services too, and that didn’t really help — polite but no solution. So I’m left with trousers that I can’t wear, which is annoying and pointless. The fit was the only redeeming thing; it’s a shame it ended like this because otherwise I would have carried on buying from them. Overall a poor outcome and not what I expected as a regular customer.
Half the sparkle missing
I bought a sequinned jumpsuit from Roman back in October and only wore it once at a Christmas party. It felt lovely on — weighty with all those sequins, a bit clattery when you move, and quite flattering. After the night I gave it a wash on its own at 30° in a wash bag, exactly like the label said. When I hung it up to dry I spotted huge patches where the sequins had fallen off, mainly on a back panel, but the thread was still there. That looked like a factory problem to me. I hadn’t noticed it when I wore it because it was on my back. Customer services didn’t help. Danielle was curt and kept suggesting I’d snagged it. I mean, I’d have noticed a snag on my back, right? I asked for escalation. Nothing. They inspected it, said it wasn’t a manufacturing fault and sent the item back rather than fixing or replacing. Disappointing. The jumpsuit itself felt great, but the attitude from support ruined it. I’d suggest taking photos before washing and push harder if you get the same brush-off. Bit gutted, to be honest.
Fit was fine, follow-up wasn't
It was odd — the dress fit really well, so I cut the tags out straight away. Packed it for holiday, gave it a quick wash at home, and that's when the hem started to come apart. I’d already chucked the return label in the bin, so I emailed customer services asking for a replacement label and to report the faulty stitch. That was within a week of ordering. What annoyed me most wasn’t the dodgy hem but how they handled it. Repeated emails either got no reply or the same line about being outside a 30‑day returns window. One agent flatly said they couldn't accept a return because I'd removed the label — which felt wrong given the item was clearly faulty. I expected at least one proper reply, or someone to offer to inspect or collect, but nothing useful came back. Oddly, one brief message did admit the dress could be returned if faulty, which made the silence even stranger. If you're thinking of doing the same, keep the label and take photos before you bin things. I'd advise holding onto proof and chasing persistently; otherwise it’s a bit of a waste.
