I was unsure about doing my first online loan — I kept thinking it’d be stressful or a bit dodgy, especially after a poor experience with another lender. The application was actually straightforward and the rep asked whether I wanted my payment to go to interest or principal, which I’d never been asked before. He explained stuff clearly, took his time and seemed knowledgeable. Not perfect — could be a bit quicker — but I’d use them again.
Odd unsolicited emails
I got the first email from them about a week ago on my phone, out of the blue — never signed up or spoken to anyone from this company. My first thought was 'oh, spam', since every message kept claiming 'you contacted us before', which simply isn't true. It was annoying and odd, but weirdly the unsubscribe link worked straight away, which was a small relief. Still not happy they sent unsolicited stuff.
Eventually sorted, just took a while
Funny thing — I first saw their post on LinkedIn and even told a mate at work about it, then out of nowhere they had my mobile. I kept saying “remove me” — I told them, I told them — and they still phoned. The turn came when the compliance person actually phoned back, proper, apologised and confirmed they’d deleted my number. I was relieved more than anything, a bit grateful it wasn’t dragged out further. Still annoyed they grabbed my data, but pleased it ended without more hassle.
The moment I relaxed
I only really appreciated them the week a big FX move hit and our old provider vanished (literally stopped replying). I needed proper hedging because our margins are thin and I'd had a rubbish experience before. Grant, our account manager, stepped in, talked me through sensible options without the usual sales fluff and actually chased things up days later (that was oddly comforting). It's not perfect — replies can be a bit slow and prices move — but overall it felt like a real partner, not just another quote.
Not what I was expecting
charity run, in-laws, puppy ate my slippers — all before they even mentioned Forex. I was sceptical about using them anyway, so this did nothing to reassure me. One of my colleagues, who'd only just come back after her dad passed away, was on the receiving end and it was awkward to say the least. You can imagine how tone-deaf that felt. We asked repeatedly to be taken off the call list; the calls died down for a bit and then came back full force. Very frustrating, especially when numbers are withheld and you can't just block them. After a couple of polite but firm complaints I did get through to someone who actually listened, and they arranged a proper opt-out — that's the bit that redeemed them for me. Not all of my doubts evaporated — I still don't like the manipulative script — but at least there was a human at the end who sorted things, and that matters. If you're on the fence like I was, be clear and keep records of the calls. I'd advise the company to stop using those forced-empathy lines; real conversations would do them better. Slightly relieved now, though I won't be recommending them to friends.
Not brilliant at first, but it eventually worked out
their system wouldn’t let me register because my mobile number was apparently linked to an earlier claim. I mean, fair enough if it was a mistake, but it felt like being told off for something I hadn’t done. You don’t expect that on your first visit.
