Andy sorted the refund, so that part worked.
That odd relief moment
the grandchildren dived in, the bits fit together better than I feared and there was a tiny surprise spare part tucked in the box — random, but handy. Bit of a faff getting it, but seeing them proper engrossed made it worth the hassle.
Half a gift, half an excuse
'damaged stock.' No prior hint. No photos. No sensible explanation. That bit annoyed me most — because it left me, a parent with a job and no time, scrabbling for a replacement eight days before the big day. I asked them how they'd decided which early orders survived and which didn't. The reply was a bland 'first in / first out' line. No proof, no details, just corporate speak. They offered a small accessory set to arrive in January. Cute idea, but useless for a Christmas present. A refund is not a favour; it's what should happen anyway. In day-to-day life I use online shopping for convenience and to balance work and home. This experience taught me to add a bigger buffer, and to avoid relying on this company for occasions. They could at least admit mistakes and be properly honest. Slightly funny in hindsight, but at the time it was irritating and inconvenient. I'd warn friends to look elsewhere.
Not dependable for a date-sensitive order
don’t rely on their timelines if you need this for a specific day. I ordered the larger set because I needed something for a family Christmas gathering — not a huge thing, but important to me — and the whole experience was one long scramble. Advertising said mid-December delivery, I ordered early November to be safe, yet the parcel only showed up a week after Christmas, and even then one of the boxes was missing. Communication was patchy; at first they blamed “shipping delays”, then “short stock”, then it was “being prioritised”. Which was it? I get that supply chains are messy, but nearly seven weeks and zero proactive updates is poor. When I chased them they eventually sorted the missing piece and the product itself appears fine — solid enough, no obvious faults, and it did what was needed once it arrived — but the hassle and uncertainty meant it ruined the timing. If you’re flexible and don’t mind chasing customer service, you’ll probably be fine in the end; if you need it for a present, event or moving-in day, find another supplier. Small positives: price wasn’t outrageous and final resolution happened, albeit slowly. Small negatives: inconsistent messages, excuses that kept changing, and no real sense of priority for time-sensitive orders. Overall, usable product, but logistics and service need work.
