Not what I expected, but not a total write-off 8 March 2026

I’m relieved it isn’t completely useless, but my trust is dented. I’d been relying on the old audio-focused tool for a while — proper day-to-day use, not just a dabble — and right away I missed the core bit: importing audio straight into the app. First time I used it I thought, this is clever, and it saved me time when I had to work with interviews and long recordings (colleagues liked it for the same reason). Then they shifted focus to a new product which they call an “upgrade”. Factually, it isn’t, at least for how I work. The new app doesn’t accept audio imports yet, which removes the main function I depended on. That change alone makes the new direction feel like a downgrade. I’ll admit I was glad to get a reply from the company when I raised the issue — prompt, polite — and they say built-in transcription is planned. That sounds promising and I’m pleased they engaged; seriously, that’s the part that calms me down a bit. But in practise, the present lack of audio import is a deal-breaker for me. Also, some messages implied the old software would remain available for a while; in my case that window turned out to be much shorter than I expected, which made the transition feel rushed. So yes, there’s a real opportunity for someone else to make a product that keeps the features people actually use. If the company can make the old tool usable a bit longer, or fast-track the promised features in the new one, I’d be grateful and my confidence would recover. For now I’m cautiously optimistic rather than enthusiastic. It’s not a screeching condemnation — I liked the old tool, I’m thankful for the reply and for the roadmap — but until the missing audio import and reliable access are fixed, I’ll be looking at alternatives and keeping an eye on how things develop.
