Halfway down the ramp I realised we'd left two jackets on the coach. We needed them — chilly evenings and I'd been burned by lost luggage before. The transfer was fine — on time and no fuss. After that the customer service was a mess — a generic complaints address, no clear lost-and-found process, nobody who could tell you if or when they'd check. After a few persistent emails they turned up and were returned before we left, but it shouldn't have taken that much effort.
Left hanging at pickup
Not worth it — they let me down. I used the shuttle for an early-morning trip to the airport and arrived ten minutes early at the agreed pickup point. It was quiet, I was the only person with a suitcase, and yet no bus turned up. I phoned the emergency line six times with no answer, which was really frustrating. In the end I had to jump in a taxi to make my flight — the taxi driver was great, but the shuttle service wasn't.
Cheap fare, costly hassle
get confirmation of which company will actually pick you up and keep enough cash for a fallback. It felt sloppy and a bit careless, though the original booking process was straightforward.
Door drama, but we got there
disorganised check-in, being told to wait outside in the rain and no real help with bags. That set a sceptical tone straight away.
A man eventually appeared, checked my name, sent us back across the lot and, awkwardly, the passenger door of the coach jammed on the kerb when we tried to board. The driver shuffled it a couple of times before the door freed up. I noticed the gearbox whining as we left; the whole thing felt like the driver wasn't quite at ease with the vehicle. Half an hour later I caught him glancing repeatedly at the passenger door — it hadn't latched properly — and he had to stop on a roundabout to operate the emergency lever. Not ideal, and it made me more nervous, especially when his spacing and following distance were closer than I’d expect.
Somewhere around Corralejo we had a brief, slightly embarrassing moment where he asked if we knew the way. I offered an address, but he preferred his map app and kept stopping to check if we’d arrived, about six times. It was frustrating, yes, and honestly I kept bracing for the worst.
That said, there were things to appreciate. The driver remained polite throughout, no raised voices, and despite the on-off door problem he managed the situation without fanfare. The coach interior was comfortable enough and the drop-off was exactly at the villa’s gate, which mattered at the end of a long flight. By the time we were unloading I’d moved from irritation to relief — not thrilled with the process, but satisfied that the job was done safely and we were where we needed to be. So, mixed bag: some clear shortcomings in vehicle handling and organisation, but ultimately a competent outcome.Lost on the route
I was knackered after the flight and needed a straightforward transfer because of a sore back, so I booked the usual company. Normally they're fine, but this time the driver on 2 February couldn't locate the hotel drop-off. He spoke very little English which made things awkward. I pulled up the address and route on my phone and tried to show him, but that didn't help — he kept driving past narrow streets and other hotels. He said he'd come back after dropping everyone else off, or words to that effect, so I waited, waited, then decided I couldn't risk more jostling with my back. In the end I hopped out in the middle of Puerto de la Cruz and paid a private taxi €8 to get to the right place. Practical, not dramatic, just inconvenient. I hope the return pick-up on 10 February goes to the correct spot; fingers crossed, though I'm a bit wary now.
Biscuits won me over
Nice bloke driving, Leif chatted and helped with bags — proper polite. Car was immaculate and he even offered biscuits, which was a lovely touch. Much better than some dodgy cabs I've had before.
