Still waiting for a refund after everything

I never imagined I'd be chasing a ticket refund while dealing with grief, but here we are. We had tickets for Limp Biskit that were postponed back in 2020 and I haven’t been able to get the unused ones refunded since my son died in September. I’ve sent ID and a death certificate, fired off about 14 messages, and every time I ask for an update it’s like starting again. Different agent, different answer, no continuity, nobody reads the previous thread. They keep saying it’s a past event even though the concert hasn’t happened or been rescheduled. The whole process feels cold and bureaucratic — like banging your head against a form. They insist the refund must go back to the original card, but that account’s frozen by the bank so it’s impossible. I found a complaints email and got an automated reply telling me to use the website refund form, which loops me back to square one. It’s draining and frankly disrespectful. I’m going to keep pushing this and will take it further if I have to, because it’s just not right.

Refunds took forever, avoid relying on support

poor handling and painfully slow refunds. I bought a ticket for a Paul McCartney show — something I was really looking forward to — but life intervened and I had to sell the ticket. I started using the site straight away and at first it seemed fine, the listing went up and someone bought it within days. My first impression of the platform was that it was simple, until I tried to get the money back. The form wouldn’t keep my details. I uploaded ID and a bank statement, but the profile just didn’t save them. No phone number is listed either, so you’re stuck with email. I explained everything and added screenshots, then waited. After about a month I finally got a reply saying the system had flagged me as outside the UK and that meant a manual refund in a different currency. That’s when they said finance would have to process it and it could take up to 21 working days. So what should have been a quick transaction turned into more than two months of back-and-forth. I’m not eager, emotionally, to use them again. The lack of clear status updates and the broken form are the worst parts. If you’re outside the UK or need cash quickly, be prepared for delays and repetitive emails. For someone who’s used similar services, this felt like a step backwards. It works when everything goes right, but when something goes wrong you’ll notice how slow and clunky the support is.

Gifted ticket turned into a faff

don’t expect a simple gift purchase to stay simple. My wife bought me a ticket for a show — Roger Waters — and that should have been it: a nice surprise, we enjoy gigs, job done. Instead I ended up spending ages on my phone and printing out bits of paper, which is not how I planned my evening. Right from the start it was fiddly. I assumed I could print a PDF or forward a ticket, like normal people do, but Ticketmaster insists their “tickets” are tied to an account and only visible via an app linked to the purchaser’s email. So if someone buys you a present on their email, you’re kind of stuck unless they share logins, which is awkward. We didn’t want to do that.
So then the whole support circus began. The advertised phone number was out of use, so we had to send online enquiries and wait. We both sent multiple emails, I probably sent nine, my wife a similar amount, and replies were slow and often missed the point. A few responses even had typos and didn’t address what I’d written, which felt careless. I ended up taking screenshots of the “ticket” my wife sent and printing receipts to show at the gate — luckily that worked in the end, but it shouldn’t be on the customer to improvise like that. The odd, slightly surprising positive was that someone from the CEO’s office did reply after the event, which was unexpected and, if anything, came too late but did show someone can escalate things. Also, small thing: why do their emails begin with “##- Please type your reply above this line -##”? It looks messy and makes no sense.
In daily life I buy tickets for friends and family all the time, often as presents or as last-minute plans after work, so having a smooth, transferable option matters. This experience took the shine off what should have been an easy treat. If you want to buy a ticket as a present, be prepared for hoops, screenshots and printed receipts — and a lot of patience with support. It worked out in the end but only after unnecessary stress and time wasted.

Poorly run ballot, but it sort of works

don’t expect a smooth, customer-friendly experience — the system is clunky and communication is weak, though you can sometimes get tickets if you’re lucky. I applied for Coronation Concert tickets in late April and that’s when the problems became obvious. First impression: the entry form wouldn’t accept a single ticket request (only pairs), which immediately felt thoughtless — plenty of people travel solo. Then they told applicants they’d hear back in late April, which left almost no time to sort trains and a hotel if you had to travel. When I got the email saying tickets were allocated, I assumed they were mine; that wasn’t the case. There was an extremely short claim window (about two hours) and I didn’t receive any prior warning about that. Long story short, the allocation was re-assigned to someone else and the follow-up message was brusque — no apology, just “all tickets have now been snapped up.” It’s administratively messy: a household name whose basic admin feels undercooked. That said, the platform does function — the ballot processes entries and emails do go out — it’s just the timing, wording and options that let it down. It’s not catastrophic, but it’s inconvenient and inconsiderate for people who need to book travel or can only go alone. Improvements needed: allow single ticket entries, make claim windows reasonable, and use clearer, apologetic communication when things go wrong. I’ll probably try again if it’s something I really want, but I’ll be cautious — book travel only after confirmation and don’t rely on a short email window. Overall: usable but far from customer-centred.
