By the time I realised the rental company wanted £64 for three days' excess, I was pressed for time. I found Simply Excess through Martin Lewis and took their £8 option — much cheaper. The policy landed in my inbox within minutes, PDF attached, terms plain and easy to scan. They also fired a short reminder a day before the return with practical steps on handing the car back, which I actually liked; sensible and not overcooked. I didn't have to make a claim, so I can't judge that side, but the delivery and prompt, clear replies were reassuring.
Sorted without drama
Honestly, I'd use them again — they really took the stress out of a mess. I rent cars for work and weekends, and after I dinged a hire car parking, the charges were huge. SimplyExcess paid up on receipt of the paperwork. Not instant, a few back-and-forth emails, but fuss-free overall and I'm relieved.
Halfway through
Halfway through the form I remembered a mate had suggested this provider, so I pressed on. Buying was dead simple, even for someone not brilliant with tech. The cover seems good for the price. Oddly, an immediate confirmation email arrived — that was a pleasant surprise. Of course, I haven't tried making a claim.
