courier had mucked up again; they reissued the order on the 27th and it arrived fast. I knew I was satisfied when the bottles sat on my kitchen counter looking decent — nice for a midweek drink after work.
Cautious buy
I've drunk gin for decades, since the 1980s, so I know roughly what I like. I used to keep a dozen different bottles at home. My taste runs to spicy, citrus-led gins. I hesitated before buying Hoxton's London gin with grapefruit and ginger — a bit wary that the fruit note would be too soft or the ginger too harsh. First drink with a lime wedge was pleasant enough. Switched to a grapefruit slice for the next glass and it actually sharpened everything up, made the botanicals sing. Pleased it worked out, so it's one I can recommend.
Finally here, but what a palaver
I first saw these on Instagram and even recommended them to a mate, so I felt proper awkward when mine disappeared. Ordered on 27 October with 48‑hour delivery and then… silence. No dispatch email, no tracking, I sent two emails, a Facebook message and tried the website form which gave a server error — no reply anywhere. I raised a PayPal dispute because I didn’t know what else to do, not expecting much. Anyway, it did turn up on 14 November with a little freebie inside, which honestly was a pleasant surprise. Too late for the birthday present though, so that was annoying. Item itself is fine and at least I wasn’t ripped off, but the lack of communication and the slow delivery left me well frustrated. Bit of a mixed bag.
Reluctant but pleased
I was annoyed at the start but by the time the bottle arrived I was mostly happy. I ordered a bottle of tropical gin as a birthday pressie and pour it into lazy after-work G&Ts or a cheeky weekend punch, so it mattered it showed up. It took far longer than the 48 hours on the site — nearly a week — and honestly I fumbled with emails, a dodgy contact form that kept logging me out, and a phone number that wouldn’t accept calls from Scotland (bit daft). I emailed twice, left it, then sent another — not the smoothest. But when it did turn up the packaging was fine, the gin tastes great, and the birthday person was chuffed. Would I order direct again? Maybe, if I’ve got time and patience. Slightly irritated, but not ruined in the end.
Sofa-test success
confirmation emails, then silence and no parcel for weeks, so I was sulking and ready to bin the whole thing. Then out of the blue they got in touch, sorted a system glitch and sent my order plus an extra bottle as an apology. Tasted it that evening and yeah, it’s lovely — smooth, a bit citrusy, sits really well with tonic and ice. Feels premium without being smug. Bit of a rocky start but happy now, and I keep reaching for the bottle.
Nearly lost faith, then relief
no dispatch message, no tracking, and the website had no phone number. I tried the contact form (server error), sent an email and waited. For a bit I honestly thought I'd been scammed. Then on 8 November a proper reply arrived explaining they'd temporarily shut the online shop and apologising — not ideal, but they offered a partial refund and expedited the order. The game‑changer was the day the parcel actually showed up; I remember putting the kettle on and feeling oddly relieved, like finally the hassle was worth it. Still annoyed by the silence and the lack of clear info, but the way they fixed it and the small gesture made me decide to stick with them. Tip: ask someone who’s used them before — I only went ahead after a mate vouched for them.
