    Wrong car, long wait

Things went wrong before I had even landed. The booking confirmation listed incorrect business details, so I had no usable contact number and no clear idea where my car was. The Airport Tavern staff ended up helping me trace it, which I appreciated. The Meet and Greet driver then arrived with somebody else’s VW Golf. After that, I was taken to Queenshead Farm, around nine miles away, to collect my own vehicle roughly three hours later. It was a long, stressful finish to the journey. My car had clearly been gone through and was left untidy. I also declined the £6 parking charge, given the mess. I was relieved to get the car back, but I would not book this service again. Others should double-check the contact details first.

When the rules mattered more than reality

The police crime reference was barely dry when I emailed them, and that was the moment I realised how little flexibility there was. My car had been stolen the night before a week-long Stansted meet-and-greet booking, so I sent the Kent Police proof straight away. I wasn’t expecting magic, just a bit of common sense, maybe a partial refund. Instead I got pointed to the 24-hour rule, with no goodwill at all. What really sealed it was the silence afterwards; my follow-up messages have gone nowhere. Pretty grim, especially as I fly regularly. I’d genuinely advise others to check the cancellation terms before booking, because when things go wrong, this is apparently what you can expect.

A car park shouldn’t feel like a survival test

I wouldn’t use Used Compare the Car Park again after what happened at Heathrow T5. Coming back from a long trip is grim enough, but finding my key tucked behind the rear tyre felt like a rather dodgy treasure hunt. Then, in heavy rain, I noticed a wiper was out of place and the windscreen had a crack. Nobody mentioned any damage to me. Once I reached the M25, visibility went and I properly panicked. I had to stop, the police helped me get somewhere safe, and then I waited more than five hours for the RAC. They could only sort one wiper well enough for me to get home. So now there’s the insurance claim, the cracked screen and the other wiper to deal with. I have video from before drop-off, plus police records and footage from that night. Not exactly the welcome-home experience I was hoping for, especially driving alone after a flight.

    Promises with no follow-through

The moment I realised this was not going to be sorted was when another promised call-back simply never came. I had booked the Heathrow parking because I need a dependable service for my disability vehicle; it is new, and I cannot just swap it for another car when something goes wrong. I was a bit wary about leaving it, admittedly, but expected the usual basic care.

    Three hours of uncertainty

drop the car off, fly away, then collect it without much fuss. Instead, the return was stressful from the start. I was told the keys could not be located, and it seemed I was not the only customer dealing with the same issue that day. Communication felt vague and changed depending on who I spoke to. When I asked direct questions about my car and what had happened, the tone became quite defensive, which only made me more concerned. I later discovered my car had been left at the airport during my trip, leading to additional airport charges. In the end, I got the car back, but had to cover a large amount for the charges and replacement keys. I have used airport parking firms before, including some cheaper ones, and never had anything close to this level of confusion. I would strongly suggest checking recent independent reviews and asking exactly where vehicles are kept before booking. For me, what should have been a simple collection after a holiday became the worst part of the trip.

A cheap booking that became a hassle

I had already wondered whether the low price was worth it, but booked because the timings looked straightforward. That doubt turned out to be justified. On 27 December, about half an hour from the airport, I started ringing the number as instructed. Four calls rang for roughly two minutes and then dropped. I also sent texts and WhatsApp messages. Not ideal when you are watching the clock and your flight is on schedule. Eventually somebody answered and said the driver would be there in ten minutes. He was not. I got to the airport and eventually had another unclear conversation with the driver. By the time he arrived, I had been forced to pay £13 at the airport instead of the £7 I had expected. That was the first part of the trip made unnecessarily stressful. Collection afterwards was no better. I waited around 50 minutes while different people kept saying I would get a call ten minutes before the driver arrived. Meanwhile the Audi app showed the car still parked about two miles away, so I was not especially convinced. The driver eventually called from a withheld number and arrived after about an hour. There was no useful explanation and he seemed fairly uninterested. For day-to-day use I need parking to remove one job from travelling, not create several phone calls and extra charges. I will not use them again, and I would still like the £6 difference refunded.
