Halfway through the second afternoon of fitting the panels I realised how glad I was I'd picked Sungold's kit. I'd just moved to a small cottage after being let down by another supplier and needed a reliable setup — and with a dodgy back I couldn't be wrestling heavy batteries around. The panels and batteries have been quietly working for a couple of years now; nothing flashy, just doing the job. Delivery was a bit hit-and-miss — one box turned up late and the driver left it on the kerb, which was annoying. Customer service were sensible when a battery went out of balance; they walked me through tests and it sorted itself. Not perfect, but solid.
Sturdy kit, poor timing
well packed, heavy-duty steel, parts fitted together nicely and felt robust under load. I was surprised by that quality, honestly. Communication and stock updates need work — the website should say if items aren’t available — but the product itself did the job once it turned up.
Bought with doubts, pleasantly surprised
I nearly didn't buy these because I wasn't sure a battery from a different brand would play nicely with my inverter; truck freight fees put me off. In the end I bit the bullet and I'm glad I did. The 16 kWh unit arrived in a wooden crate with all the cables labelled — I took a minute to read the manual, but it fired up straight away on first connection. I use it to shave peak rates and as an overnight backup; it's been reliable so far. Panels were packaged neatly and the cable lengths meant I could mount them how I wanted, which was a nice surprise. The onboard display gives detail, which I didn't expect to enjoy much. A few small niggles — I had to tweak a mount — but overall it's good value and works as I hoped.
Rough start, good finish
sometimes replies were a touch slow, but they sorted everything in the end, so I’m pleased overall.
Half decent refund, poor refurbishment checks
they made it right eventually. Still, the whole episode makes me wonder about their quality checks on refurbished stock; felt like nobody properly inspected it before sending it back out. I’ll still buy new from them (that earlier 24V is running fine), but I’m wary of refurbished items now — too much hassle for stuff I want to rely on when I’m off‑grid.
