Not the kind of thing you'd expect to bookmark, but my mum sent me a link to Honeydew and I tried it. I've had fairly severe acne since about 13 and at 18 I opted for Accutane. The key thing for me was that registered dermatologists prescribe it and they only require online follow‑ups, which fits my uni timetable — quick video or a form, job done. Consultations were surprisingly concise yet to the point, and the meds started showing improvement sooner than I thought. It's not magic, but it's been useful, or rather it helps more than I expected.
Sensible, not flawless
Waiting lists had me fuming, so I tried an online derm on a whim — was sceptical at first, honestly. Booking was dead easy and I got seen the next day, which took a load off. The clinician and a care coordinator worked with me to find cheaper options, though I still had to pay for prescriptions out of pocket and that pinched. Consult felt reasonably thorough but follow‑up instructions could've been clearer. It helped me, my mum and my daughter, so not perfect but definitely useful when you can't wait months.
A relief to know the cost
Funny how something as simple as clear pricing makes you actually book an appointment. I used to avoid doctors because my cover was rubbish and I hated surprise bills, but Honeydew's upfront costs put that worry to bed. Their reminders for labs or follow-ups are handy — they ping me just enough, not too much. The care team replies quickly and explains things without jargon, which I really appreciate. They've been quite creative with treatment tweaks and that has made a noticeable difference to my skin and confidence over a few months. If I could ask for one thing, it'd be slightly faster delivery of test kits, otherwise very pleased.
Fresh start for my skin
I'm honestly pleased I picked Honeydew — it's simpler and nicer than I thought. Right away I had a chat with my provider (not something I've had with other companies), which made it feel personal even though it's all remote. The consultations are online, they answer quickly, and that saves me loads of time — I hate faffing about. The care team are friendly and actually follow up; I was pleasantly surprised they tweaked my plan when a product wasn't working, which mattered more than I expected. Sometimes replies come a bit later in the evening and there can be the odd hiccup with delivery dates, but nothing major. Compared to past run-ins with faceless apps and canned emails, this feels properly human. If you want something straightforward that actually listens and doesn't overcomplicate things, give it a go.
Second-time lucky
a paperwork mix-up delayed a prescription by a week or two, annoying, but they communicated and sorted it, so I didn't feel abandoned. My skin is clearer than it's been in years, which made me a bit emotional. If you're thinking, ask loads of questions up front and keep photos for follow-ups. I'd recommend it, but expect the occasional admin hiccup.
Night-time scratcher turned sceptic-turned-believer
he chased the insurance nonsense for me. The Honeydew care coordinators were brilliant too, helping get me onto the Dupixent MyWay programme after my insurer initially said no. Still, I wondered if it’d be another false dawn.
Surprise: improvement began the day after my first injection. The itching eased, the redness toned down, and sleep stopped being a fight. No dodgy side-effects so far (touch wood), and I’m slowly getting some normality back. Am I gushing? A bit — but it’s genuine. If you’re on the fence like I was, I get it; I was there. But for me, the doubts have mostly melted away.
