Within minutes of putting it on, I could feel where things were going wrong. I’d waited ages to find a decent foldable helmet, and the concept genuinely seemed spot on. In practice, though, two hard, sharp areas press into my head and make it uncomfortable almost straight away. That’s not something I can ignore in a helmet, even if the folding design is clever. What really put me off was trying to return it. Customer service said I had to pay the postage back to the Netherlands myself, despite the item being faulty. I’ve had returns with other companies handled much more fairly, so this felt pretty disappointing. It’s a shame because I really wanted it to work, but the fit and the way the return was handled left me feeling let down.
The suitcase test did it
I realised this helmet was a good buy when it fitted in my hand luggage without me having to rearrange everything else. I took it to London for work and used it for a couple of rides between meetings, which was honestly the first time I properly appreciated it. A normal helmet would have been a nuisance, no question. It feels much more practical for the way I travel, especially when I’m trying to keep bags light. I’ll mainly use it for cycling to the station before getting the train into Belfast, and probably for holidays too. It’s not something I need every day, but when I do, it saves a fair bit of hassle. Bit of a relief, really.
