I was browsing for a plant to cheer up the kitchen and found this site. At first I was wary — the product descriptions were a bit vague and I had the usual nagging questions about size and what exactly I'd get. I messaged customer support and got the standard automated reply saying they'd be back to me in a couple of days. Not ideal, but I was in a hurry so I just took a chance. The checkout did throw me for a moment when VAT showed up at the last step, that felt a bit sneaky, I won't lie. Still, I went ahead and ordered, mostly because the price still seemed fair and I really wanted something green on the windowsill. The delivery arrived on time and that was the turning point. Unpacking the pot, I actually laughed out loud — the orchid was fuller than I expected, plenty of healthy branches and plenty of buds. That was the moment I knew I was glad I'd risked it. It's been sitting by my kettle for a week now, soaking up morning light and making those dull tea-breaks nicer. There’s a small nick on one leaf, but honestly it hardly matters. I'm genuinely pleased it worked out. Customer service was a bit slow earlier, yes, and the website could be clearer, but the plant itself made up for it. I’ll probably order again, now that I know what they actually send.
The wrong tin in the kitchen
I was stood in the kitchen staring at a dented 3-litre tin thinking, nope — that’s not what I ordered. I placed an order in early January for Greek extra virgin olive oil and after a couple of weeks of back-and-forth about a tracking number I asked to cancel. That got muddled and effectively refused for ages. Then on 20 January a UPS parcel turned up with a different tin, the lid apparently opened and crudely resealed with tape. I poured a little into a glass and it smelled faint and weird, not like proper olive oil at all. Took photos, left a voicemail, tried to call, tried the online chat — which was basically an automated loop — and heard nothing useful. The tracking did at least show the delivery, so credit where it’s due, but getting the wrong, possibly tampered product and no human response is frustrating. I’ve had other suppliers sort mistakes quickly before, so this felt sloppy rather than malicious. I disputed the card charge and am waiting on that outcome. Not a disaster but definitely not what I expected — service could be much better with one real person answering the phone.
A bumpy but enlightening application experience
clear advert, clear initial contact. That’s the unexpected pleasant bit — it’s not often that a company asks about availability right away. I did ask for the exact time and address once I accepted the interview; I wanted to be sure and, frankly, a bit nervous because I’m new to the area. No reply came that day, which I was willing to shrug off — busy times happen. I followed up and, again, nothing for a while. Then, rather out of the blue, I received a message saying they wouldn’t progress my application because of the “tone” of my messages. That felt strange — and a little hurtful — because my messages were polite and simply clarifying dates and location.
I did write back to ask for the manager’s contact details and to say I found the comment offensive and unprofessional; I’m not desperate for work, just keen to do something useful. I won’t pretend I wasn’t annoyed, but there were still things I liked: the job description was honest, the initial reply was quick and the person did at least give travel info (about 30 minutes) when asked. So there’s a mix — good organisation on the posting and early contact, but a breakdown in follow-up and an odd decision at the end.
A surprise — in a small way — was how much it mattered to me that someone simply confirmed a time and place. Little things like that make a big difference. If they’d replied with a time I’d probably be starting a new routine now. As it stands, I’m left with a slightly bemused but still hopeful feeling; I’d apply again to a better-managed team. Please, if you’re on the other side of a hiring email, just confirm the basics — it saves everyone a lot of fuss.
