not magic, obviously, but genuinely nice after a long afternoon at the desk. It feels sturdy, looks decent and arrived quickly with no delivery charge. So yes, I was relieved, but also properly pleased with it.
A bent top became a bigger problem
When I finally had a spare Saturday to put this cart together, I expected the usual bit of flat-pack faff and then to be done with it. Instead, the top was the whole story. Both ends were bent upwards, especially along the front edge. One side sat nearly half an inch high, the other roughly a quarter inch, so it looked visibly twisted rather than just slightly uneven.

I ordered a small side table because it fit the cheap‑and‑cheerful vibe I wanted next to the sofa. When it arrived the finish was fine, the wood-ish top felt solid under a cup of tea and it wasn’t a wobbley nightmare — honestly, for the price it did the job. It’s not museum quality, you can tell it’s mass-made, there’s a tiny nick on the underside and one leg needs a gentle nudge now and then, but I was prepared for that. The real drama came with trying to send it back.
I emailed before the thing shipped, saying I might return it, and then radio silence. I chased them several times, from my regular email and through their website, and every reply made me think I was in a sketchy comedy: “Why do you want to return it?” then “Can you send a picture of your previous email?” — as if my inbox was staging a coup. Eventually I got an address but the phone number they gave either goes nowhere or leads to someone who says “Homrest? No idea.” There’s also a 15% restocking fee they quoted later — something I couldn’t find on the site when I bought it. So that left me feeling like I’d been nicked for time and hassle.
I ended up disputing the charge with my bank and got the money back, which was a relief, but what a faff. If you’re tempted to buy from them: the actual product is usable and kinda pleasant for a budget purchase, but don’t expect the returns process to be straightforward. My advice — if you can, try to inspect or buy from a seller with clearer return terms, and keep screenshots of every email. Small wins: the table does its job, looks decent on a coffee morning, but the aftercare is where they fall flat.
