    Cybex Solution T i-Fix car seat

    I had not spent much time reading this company’s negative reviews before ordering. Having now gone through them in detail, I’m struck by how many describe difficulties with returns and refunds. Unfortunately, my own experience followed a similar pattern.

    I purchased a Cybex Solution T i-Fix car seat. The item did not arrive on either of the first two estimated delivery dates. When I contacted customer services, I was initially told there was a stock shortage and that my order would be cancelled. Minutes later, however, I was told that a shipment from the supplier had just arrived and that the item would be dispatched to me. Given the timing of these communications, I found the explanation difficult to reconcile and it naturally raised questions in my mind about the handling history of the item supplied.

    When the seat arrived, it was not in original manufacturer packaging. Instead, it had been repackaged into a large box for a different product with no obvious internal protection to prevent movement during transit. I also found a hair embedded in the fabric of the seat.

    Kiddies Kingdom advised that the original manufacturer packaging had been damaged before dispatch and that the item had therefore been repackaged. Although the seat appeared unused, I was not comfortable accepting a child safety product that had been supplied in this condition. I personally questioned whether I might have been sold ex-display stock despite ordering a brand-new item.

    I requested a refund and collection. Kiddies Kingdom treated this as a ‘change of mind’ return and would not arrange home collection without an additional charge. After a lengthy exchange of emails, I ultimately paid for collection and agreed to exchange the seat for a different model.

    I found the communication condescending, and I found the suggestion that this was merely a ‘change of mind’ return insulting.

    Although the replacement seat was also delayed, it was in original manufacturer packaging and was what I would have expected to receive in the first place.

    My concern is not with the replacement, but with the way the original item was supplied and the difficulty I experienced trying to resolve the matter.

    Given my concerns regarding the way the original item was supplied, I have raised the matter with both Trading Standards and Cybex. As a subscriber, I have also raised concerns with Which? regarding what appears to be a grey area of consumer protection. Although the product Kiddies Kingdom supplied did not appear obviously faulty, this retailer still expected me to accept a child safety product supplied in a condition and presentation that I considered unacceptable.

    I will never purchase from Kiddies Kingdom again.

    Mountain Buggy

    I’m very disappointed with my experience at Kiddies Kingdom. After receiving damaged goods, they refused a refund and only offered a credit note. I used that credit note to reorder, but now that order is being continuously delayed. It’s been incredibly difficult managing a newborn and toddler without the pram I paid for. I'm sharing this to warn other parents—they do not seem to prioritize the needs of families when things go wrong.

    Unexpected morning find

    Saved our last-minute panic

    Was panicking — baby arrived early and I needed a light pram because my back's been rubbish. I ordered and it actually turned up next day, which saved us. The pram looks great and price was fair; only a small scuff on the box. Proper relieved.

    Dented arrival, odd charge

    Six weeks before the baby was due, the camera arrived dented — not ideal. We needed it for peace of mind as first-timers, so the whole return dance was stressful. I was actually surprised the replacement image was sharp, but they still charged £21 delivery and wouldn’t budge.

    I ordered a double buggy because my back's been rubbish and we were moving flats, so needed something easy to handle. It was a pre-order but showed up ages early — proper surprise. To be honest, it didn't suit us in the end, but customer service were fast, helpful and even sorted a pick-up without faff. Decent overall, few niggles.
