heavy, solid, and ridiculously capable. A few turns and you get anything from a fine dust to hearty, rustic chunks that actually sit on the steak. It’s overbuilt in the best way and gives you that proper “seasoned to death” look without any effort. The garlic press is less dramatic but really useful; it’s easy to clean (I’m lazy with skins, no shame) and once you get the hang of loading it, it beats the old crush-and-scrape method every time. Bit fiddly at first, but that’s okay — practice makes faster. The oven glove is exactly what it should be: tough, decent grip, a touch stiff out of the box but it relaxed after a wash. I’m grateful things turned out well — I needed better kit after a couple of cheap buys that frustrated me, and this lot has replaced them on the bench. Would I tell a mate to get them? Yes, in a heartbeat. Not cheap, but they do the job properly and feel like they’ll last. They’ve made cooking less of a chore and more of something to enjoy again, and that’s worth something.
Heavy in the hand, light on the help
no flimsy wobble, the sort of weight that makes you think, "ah, that’ll last." So when a 20% voucher popped up I thought, why not a matching salt grinder? Simple, right? Not quite. The voucher refused to play ball online, so I tried the whole checkout song and dance and still no luck. I sent a cancellation, polite and short, and they came back calling me a "new customer" and said the order had already shipped — which felt odd because I'd cancelled in time. The courier then left the parcel on the doorstep despite a clear notice, which felt a bit careless, and now the package sits unopened on my hall table (I haven't even tried it, honestly). Funny thing though: you can tell even through the box that the salt grinder is weighty and well-machined — a pleasant surprise, actually, and the kind of finish I didn't expect given all the fuss about service. It's a shame the customer service has been so muddled; multiple emails later and still crickets. I don't like paying to return something I cancelled, and my bank balance certainly doesn't enjoy it either. If you're after a sturdy, nicely weighted grinder and you don't mind a gamble on the support side, you might be fine, but personally I'd try the other brand with better reviews — saves the headache. Oh, and maybe double-check vouchers before you start the whole thing, you'd save yourself the faff.
Salt mill saga — not the kind of seasoning I wanted
I genuinely thought buying a fancy salt mill would be one of those small, satisfying purchases — you know, a bit of style on the kitchen counter, job done. I hesitated though; the brand was new to me and I’d only seen it mentioned in a couple of articles, so I wondered if it was worth the money. That doubt lingered, but I clicked order anyway. Big mistake. Within an hour my inbox was full of marketing emails — and yes, I had unticked the box. That annoyed me straight away, proper annoyed, like someone barging into your kitchen and making a drink without asking. I messaged customer service to cancel and their reply was brusque, saying the item had been shipped that morning. Except, weirdly, I had no tracking number. I asked for one and had to wait a whole day for a reply. Only after I pushed did they generate a label — after I asked to cancel. Smells odd, right? When the parcel finally arrived I couldn’t bring myself to open it; I refused it at the door and they sent it back. You’d think that would be the end. Nope. Weeks went by and I heard nothing from them about a refund, despite a confirmation the parcel had returned. I had to open a dispute with my card company, which is not how I planned to spend my week. So my initial small doubt about buying from an unfamiliar brand didn’t go away — it was confirmed. There’s a bit of frustration, a bit of disappointment, and a dash of disbelief that something as simple as a salt mill purchase turned into a hassle. Won’t be returning, and I’ll think twice before buying from unknown names again.
