Salt mill saga — not the kind of seasoning I wanted 26 February 2026

I genuinely thought buying a fancy salt mill would be one of those small, satisfying purchases — you know, a bit of style on the kitchen counter, job done. I hesitated though; the brand was new to me and I’d only seen it mentioned in a couple of articles, so I wondered if it was worth the money. That doubt lingered, but I clicked order anyway. Big mistake. Within an hour my inbox was full of marketing emails — and yes, I had unticked the box. That annoyed me straight away, proper annoyed, like someone barging into your kitchen and making a drink without asking. I messaged customer service to cancel and their reply was brusque, saying the item had been shipped that morning. Except, weirdly, I had no tracking number. I asked for one and had to wait a whole day for a reply. Only after I pushed did they generate a label — after I asked to cancel. Smells odd, right? When the parcel finally arrived I couldn’t bring myself to open it; I refused it at the door and they sent it back. You’d think that would be the end. Nope. Weeks went by and I heard nothing from them about a refund, despite a confirmation the parcel had returned. I had to open a dispute with my card company, which is not how I planned to spend my week. So my initial small doubt about buying from an unfamiliar brand didn’t go away — it was confirmed. There’s a bit of frustration, a bit of disappointment, and a dash of disbelief that something as simple as a salt mill purchase turned into a hassle. Won’t be returning, and I’ll think twice before buying from unknown names again.
