I unpacked it hunched over my aching lower back, thinking this might finally stop me lugging the upright round the flat. It looks decent — nice weight, smooth wheels, and the casing doesn't feel cheap. But from the first power-up it threw a persistent "Lift" error and wouldn't reset, even on a perfectly level floor. The mapping never started because several sensors seemed dead on arrival. Support's replies were useless, asking me to "clear debris" from a brand-new machine I hadn't even put down. Retailer shrugged. Bit of a shame because if it actually worked it could have been a real help, but as it stands it's unusable. I'm annoyed, and yes, I tried the usual tricks.
Delivery chaos, decent robot in the end
Right, so I actually bought this because my neighbour mentioned it and I saw a vid on a garden forum. Delivery was a nightmare — FedEx apparently sent the parcel to some unknown address in France and it took ages to get any proper response. I ended up emailing back and forth for two weeks, spoke to someone who seemed to read from a script and felt like I wasn't being heard. That said, once it arrived and we finally put it on the lawn it sits in the corner nicely, feels solid and surprisingly quiet, and cuts the grass evenly. They offered an extra six months of 4G for the hassle, which helped a bit. Honestly, I’m relieved it works, but next time I might just buy from a shop nearby to avoid the faff.
Lawn lifesaver, honestly
it alters its mowing direction each run, which stops ruts from forming, and I didn’t expect that to make such a difference. There were a couple of narrow strips by the house where the angle was awkward, but a quick map tweak to have it run lengthways sorted it. There’s a short learning curve, sure, you’ll tweak things a bit, but once set it’s mostly leave-and-forget. Wi‑Fi and GPS have been solid here. I bodged a roof mount myself at first; the official Segway one is cheap though and actually looks nicer — might swap to that. All in all, happier than I thought I’d be, no regrets.
Unexpectedly handy helper
needed a remap, fiddled with the boundary wire, and there were a couple of minor false starts. After that it settled into a rhythm and honestly, it freed up hours I assumed were gone forever. It’s not flawless — steep corner in the back garden still makes it grumble and take odd routes, and during a wet spell the battery doesn’t last as long so it plods more than zips. Also, there’s no simple “every other day” schedule, which annoyed me because that would be perfect; you have to approximate with the weekly planner. But overall it does what it should: tidy, low-maintenance lawn that keeps up even when I don’t. I find myself watching it more than I should, a bit hypnotised, and smiling at having reclaimed my weekend. Not perfect, but very, very useful.
