I stumbled across iProVPN on a tech forum when hunting for a Linux-friendly present for my partner, and to be honest I was sceptical. My laptop runs an old distro and usually software either refuses to install or support treats you like you've chosen to break things. Price looked sensible though, so I gave a short trial a go. Turns out it actually runs fine on my ancient setup and on my partner’s newer kit too. I needed help a couple of times with the setup and the support team were patient and not at all condescending, which was a relief. Good value for what I need. Still not flashy, but reliable — I’d recommend it.
Quietly useful but refund left me cold
I first spotted this on a tech forum after a mate tipped me off, and I thought I’d give it a go. Installing the app was painless, the interface is simple and speeds were fine for streaming and general browsing — felt solid and private. But the refund experience ruined it a bit. I cancelled within the guarantee, they replied to a couple of emails at first and then... nothing. Chat just shoved me back to email, which got no reply. To be fair the service itself did what I wanted, and I’m glad it worked, but not impressed at all with the support or refund handling.
Quietly practical
Halfway through a week of travelling for work I decided to actually try the VPN I’d been eyeing. I’d been sceptical — worried it’d slow my laptop, keep logs or fail on café Wi‑Fi — but those worries mostly vanished after a few days. It stayed quick for video calls and streaming, let me access a couple of region‑locked services and handled banking without hiccup. I use it every commute and when I’m on client sites now. Not flashy, just does what it promises, which is enough.
Finally sorted — relief more than anything
shopping on a US site that sometimes blocks non-US cards (annoying) and streaming the odd show when travelling. In day-to-day life it’s been useful — I work from cafés and on trains a fair bit, so having something that masks my connection is handy and, 80% of the time, it just does the job without me thinking about it. That alone saved me stress a few times, so points for that.
