    Nearly didn't buy it

Halfway through the second night I realised I’d stopped worrying that I’d wasted my money. I had proper doubts before ordering — the tracking was vague, their site kept saying ‘processing’ for days and some reviewers showed pretty battered boxes. I’ve returned two mattresses from other companies after being promised cloud-like softness that turned out to be saggy rubbish, so I was cautious. The delivery was slower than I wanted and the box did look a bit bashed, but the mattress itself unrolled fine and feels well made. It’s genuinely king sized and heavy, which was oddly reassuring. As a side sleeper with sore shoulders I need something that cushions without swallowing me; this seems to hit that sweet spot — soft and pillowy yet supportive, with low motion transfer and it stays cool enough. I kept waiting for lumps or the bounce to disappear, but weeks in it’s still comfy and hasn’t gone flat. Customer service answered a quick question too, which helped calm me down. Overall my scepticism mostly vanished, and I’m sleeping better.

    Half decent bed, dreadful backup

it was a lot of money for something I’d never bought direct from them before, and I kept thinking “is this just an upmarket Amazon thing?” Those doubts were there right up until delivery, and to be honest they never really went away entirely. At first it looked fine — the colour was exactly what I wanted and it did sit the mattress nicely, so I told myself that was good enough. Then, a few weeks in, there was a creeping, annoying problem. I heard a bang from under the bed and discovered the centre support was wobbling. The frame relies on small plastic legs in the middle and they don’t feature in the glossy photos, which, well, feels a bit misleading. Because I have wooden floors they never stayed straight; the sockets let go bit by bit and once one wooden strip dislodged the rest followed quickly. It’s the kind of design flaw you don’t spot until you live with it. I contacted customer service and that’s where things got tiresome. They eventually sent replacement legs after about three weeks but only two arrived, not three, and I had to chase them to find out anything at all. They didn’t bother to tell me when the parts were dispatched — I just sort of waited and then checked. I tried simple fixes at home, even those little furniture grippers, but those plastic stubs just don’t play nicely with them. So now I’m fiddling with the frame every few weeks to stop the base coming apart. Not catastrophic, and the bed still works well enough for sleep, but it’s annoying and it’s far from the premium experience the price suggested. I also left a frank review via the link they emailed me and it never showed up on their site, which added to the feeling I wasn’t being heard. I probably could have pushed harder for a refund, but life was busy and I didn’t want to get pulled into a long fight over a bed frame. Bottom line: good-looking and functional most of the time, but questionable build choices and poor aftercare make it a stress I didn’t want. If you spot it cheap and can live with occasional maintenance, okay — otherwise maybe look elsewhere.

That odd, gluey whiff — turned out better than I thought

a sharp, almost chemical glue scent coming off the slats and a faint, weird coating smell from the upholstery. Set it up in the spare room because I didn’t want the whole flat stinking, windows wide open for what felt like forever. I used it straight away with the guest mattress and the slats felt solid under weight, not springy, but closer inspection showed layered wood rather than a single plank — so that was a mild annoyance.
I called customer services the day after; they were polite but not hugely helpful, offered a small goodwill credit which honestly felt a bit token. I was sceptical at that point, thinking we’d be stuck with it. Over the next couple of weeks the smell faded more than I expected — I kept airing the room, switched bedding more often and, weirdly, when I actually slept on it it felt supportive in a pleasant, no-fuss kind of way. Not luxurious, but practical and comfortable enough for everyday use.
So, initial thumbs down for the surprise smell and the mismatch in expectations about “solid” slats, and for the slightly meh customer response. But the bed itself performs: it’s sturdy, the finish hasn’t marked up, and it’s quiet. If you’re sensitive to smells, don’t put it in a bedroom you need right away — give it a few days and air it out. I went from annoyed and doubtful to generally satisfied, just wish the company had been a bit more proactive at the start.

Funnily enough, a mattress got me chatting online

the price felt steep, the 20-year warranty sounded almost too good to be true, and I’d had one prior mattress from another company that went saggy in three years and the firm’s support was non-existent. Still, the reviews looked decent and we thought, let’s chance it. The first few years were brilliant — really. Sleep felt solid, back support was proper, and my partner and I barely noticed each other moving. For about five years it was lovely, no drama, and I was that odd person who actually looked forward to bedtime. So many mattresses promise the moon; this one delivered for a good stretch, and honestly that made me relaxed about the initial expense. Then around year five things started to go wrong. It crept up: mornings with a stiff back, a bit more dipping in the middle, and then one morning I noticed a clear soft patch around my usual sleeping spot. I felt deflated, literally — or rather the mattress did. Naturally, I dug out the warranty paperwork and contacted support hoping the 20-year promise would save the day. That’s where my mood shifted from pleased to puzzled. Customer service took their time to get back, and once we were in touch the whole process became this odd choreography of photos, measurements and a request to put weights on the surface so they could judge firmness. It felt a bit procedural and, to be honest, like a test I hadn’t signed up for. Some of the reps were polite, which I appreciated, but the back-and-forth took weeks. The tests did show unevenness — the torso area sank noticeably more than the foot area — and that inconsistency explained the sore mornings. But the warranty outcome was the kicker: after all that proof they wouldn’t cover the mattress interior, only the cover’s zipper, which felt like a bait-and-switch. I was annoyed, sure, especially after such a good start. On the other hand, they offered a decent discount on a new mattress which, if I’m honest, I found considerate even if it wasn’t the fix I wanted. And the brand’s more recent models do look more affordable now, which is interesting. So where do I land? Enthusiastic about the early years and the actual comfort while it lasted; disappointed and wary about the long-term warranty handling. If you want great sleep straight away and don’t mind re-evaluating after a few years, it’s worth a look — but if a rock-solid long term guarantee is crucial to you, maybe be cautious and read the fine print. I’m a bit sad about the end of the honeymoon, but I don’t regret the nights of proper sleep we did get.
