I first heard about them from a neighbour down at the allotment and thought I'd give it a go. My parents live miles away and like pottering with roses, so sending a plant felt smarter than another bouquet. I was a bit sceptical — ordering plants online seemed risky — but the roses arrived in decent nick. The little bag and plaque they come in is a nice touch, makes it feel like a proper present rather than just a box. Dad says the canes were sturdy and the roots looked healthy; Mum likes that it's something they can tend and watch grow rather than cut flowers that die next week. The website could be clearer and I had to phone once, but the person I spoke to was helpful. Overall I'm glad I recommended them to my sister, and I'll use them again when I need a simple, reliable gift.
Missing one, but roses were lovely
firm leaves, good soil and a proper scent, but I’d ordered four. That gap mattered — these were meant as small tokens for guests at a funeral. I rang and emailed straight away; emails vanished into a void and the call brought the usual "sorry, it's our mistake" with no proper fix. They said they could send another plant but it wouldn’t arrive in time. In the end a neighbour chipped in a spare pot so we managed, and I’m quietly relieved the plants themselves were decent — they survived the journey and didn’t look sorry for themselves, which I’ve not always seen with other suppliers. Still, the lack of urgency and the poor communication left a bitter note. I’m glad it worked out in the end, and grateful for the neighbours, but the company could do with more empathy and faster follow-up.

bare rooted rose
Very poor service and very poor plants. Delivery delayed, plant arrives in very poor dried up condition, customer service not interested. On top of that plant was very very small, hardly any root on it at all. Needed to be grown on for 2 or 3 years before being an acceptable size.

Caught me off guard opening the box — bit battered from the courier, pot split and a bit of soil everywhere, so I had to re-pot it quickly before gifting at a small birthday. The rose itself? Lovely, velvety petals, deep colour, really nice. Not perfect packaging but it brightened someone's day, so I'm glad overall.
Unexpected garden find
I first spotted it in a neighbour's garden and had to have one — it's a proper groundcover rose that keeps flowering through summer, unexpectedly tough, just like I hoped.
Flowerless, for now
All things considered, the ordering was smooth but I’m left flowerless. Customer service were polite and helpful, yet the rose was marked 'damaged beyond repair' by Evri and never arrived. Bit of a faff. Hoping Harkness will please send a replacement soon, and maybe pick a better courier next time.
