I wasn’t expecting to write a review, but after a couple of months I felt I should. I picked this kit up because my face and the skin under my beard were dry and flaky for ages. Tried salon stuff, tried high-street brands, even pricier lines, but nothing really helped. I started using the starter kit about eight weeks ago, straight after a shower on most days, and the change was noticeable quite quickly. The brush is the first thing you use and it feels properly made — not flimsy at all. It gets under the beard, lifts dead skin and helps the oil and shampoo reach the skin rather than just the hairs. Simple, but effective. The beard shampoo foams nicely and doesn’t strip everything away; it feels gentle and leaves the beard soft rather than crunchy. It has a tidy scent too — not overpowering — that hangs around without being silly. The oud beard oil is the stand-out for me. It’s rich and woody, absorbs well and doesn’t leave an oily film. My beard looks neater, feels softer and the skin under it stops itching so much. I use the oil daily and the bottle has lasted about a month or five weeks so far with my long beard, which seems fair value. Customer service has been helpful and clear — I got emails about the order and delivery and they answered a small question I had within a day. I’m genuinely pleased I found these products. They did what I needed, without fuss. I’m grateful for that. If you’re unsure, it’s worth a try, especially if you’ve struggled with dryness and sensitivity like I have. I’ll be buying again and I don’t say that lightly.
Nearly didn't buy — glad I did
I was standing in the kitchen with a box of moving bits, thinking do I really need another scented candle — I'd had one awful purchase before — but the descriptions online sounded honest, so I asked about the scents. They replied straight away and gave proper detail. Then there was a hiccup with my payment (totally my bank), and Lotb kept pinging me to check it was sorted — which I appreciated, honestly. They even chased the little mystery and it turned out to be a third-party issue. Smells lovely now, job done, relieved.
Pleased, with small caveats
I grabbed a bottle a few weeks ago after reading a couple of decent reviews. I was a bit sceptical, to be honest — a lot of beard stuff promises the moon. First impression? Nice weight to the glass and neat pump. That pump became my favourite part. It's simple, no mess, and you can very easily dial in how much oil you get; for my nine-inch beard I settled on six drops, sometimes seven. It sounds fussy, but it matters. The oil itself feels rich without being gloopy. It spreads without tugging and I can comb it through without too much resistance, which is good because I wash and apply after a warm shower when hair is softer. Scent-wise there are two distinct ones. One is lighter, slightly sweet with a woody hint, and the other is darker, smokier, oud-like. The darker one sat closer to my face but never became cloying — I could still smell it but not get a headache. The lighter one lasted all day with gentle wafts. I did find the bottle's pump could stick now and then, a tiny annoyance, nothing dramatic but worth mentioning. Price-wise it's not cheap, but compared to other niche brands it feels fair for what you get. I tried using it alongside my regular beard butter and a small moustache wax; they played nicely together, the scent didn't vanish and the hold remained. Overall I went from sceptical to actually pleased. Nothing is perfect — the occasional pump hiccup is there — but the balance between viscosity and spreadability, and the honest scent profiles, won me over. Would recommend if you want something a bit more refined than supermarket stuff, without paying silly boutique prices. It's become part of my routine, I reach for it most mornings now, almost without thinking.
