I really liked Sound Forge, but their support has made it unusable for me. I moved my whole 20-year studio to a Windows 11 machine and what should have been a simple licence transfer turned into a complete mess. A bot keeps bouncing me around the site saying the activation portal isn’t supported anymore, then it sends a “try this new link” message — which promptly tells me the software’s already registered, even when I use a different email. So yes, a loop. Emails go back and forth with the same instructions to use the online support, then eventually a note pops up saying a human will reply. They don’t. I need to be making music, not playing administrative ping-pong. I’ve supported Forge for two decades, bought upgrades, recommended it to friends, so it stings to see a company shrug off long-term customers like this. It’s not just the hassle either — it’s £160 of legitimate software that now sits on a shelf because Magix won’t give me a straightforward registration link or proper help. Maybe they think bots are enough; clearly they’re not. If you want stuff that will actually keep working when you change computers, I’d be cautious about Magix and Sound Forge. There are other options that treat customers better. A bit disappointed, a bit fed up, but wanted to warn anyone else before they get stuck in the same loop.
Growing on me, but support is a real weak spot
I like what the app can do, but the support and nagging ads make it hard to love. I use this for quick edits — social clips, a couple of wedding bits, daily little jobs — and the workflow is actually quite nice. There’s a neat auto-colour tweak and a stabiliser that surprised me by fixing awkward handheld shots, so that was a pleasant bonus I didn’t expect. Sadly, I’m on the third time with the same bug: exports hang, projects fail to open, that sort of thing. First time I got decent human help and thought OK, they’ll sort it, but the last two times the “support” turned into a string of automated emails and promises that a real agent would look into it. I follow every step they ask, wait for the promised callback or message, and then nothing. No follow-up, no proper fix, just radio silence. Also, every session I have to dismiss the same aggressive in-app promotions — annoying after you’ve paid. If they get the support process fixed and tone down the ads, I’d happily stick around; until then I’m reluctantly eyeing alternatives.
