that’s not it. I’d paid for a fully custom bobblehead and, after a couple of emails with a promising mock-up, expected something close to that. The item I received was lighter and cheaper-feeling than I imagined — thin plastic, rough paint edges and visible seams — but what really annoyed me was the helmet they’d added. It simply covers the face I’d supplied and changes the whole point of the custom piece. I never approved a helmet and there was no follow-up asking me to confirm that change. The company had originally sent the head and body images separately, but the finished product looks like they merged them in a way I didn’t agree to. I tried to sort it via PayPal for a partial refund; after back-and-forth with the seller we went nowhere and PayPal closed the case because it’s a personalised item, so no buyer protection. I paid over £100 for something I won’t display, so that’s frustrating. If you want a genuinely bespoke bobblehead, be careful — check who you’re actually dealing with and be prepared for surprises. I’d think twice before ordering from these sellers or any affiliates.
Nearly a good surprise
sometimes they replied after a few days, sometimes not at all, which is annoying when you’re checking for a gift. I had to ask for tweaks twice because the eyes were a bit wonky and the colour wasn’t what I expected — they fixed it eventually, so credit for that. The hair though looked like it was stuck on in a hurry, literally just plastered to the top, which felt rushed. It arrived about five weeks later, which missed the birthday, and my wife wasn’t chuffed (she’s picky, to be fair). Overall a mix of highs and lows — quality where it mattered, but delivery and service need sorting.
Half pleased, mostly surprised
I first saw these customised figures on a mate’s Instagram feed and thought they looked brilliant, so I tipped my sister to get one for our parents’ anniversary. I’ll be honest — I was pretty sceptical from the start, mostly about delivery times, and that feeling stuck with me when it didn’t arrive before Christmas like we were promised. When the box finally turned up, I couldn’t help noticing a few things straight away. The worst was the missing purse on the female figure — it’s a small prop but it mattered, it was in the photo and in the proof they sent, so its absence felt lazy. Also, the male figure’s glasses weren’t the ones I supplied, and the shading on the shirts looked streaky, like someone rushed the finish. I took photos and emailed Vivian, trying not to sound angry but being clear. To my surprise they replied the same day, offered to remake the figures and gave a partial refund while I waited. That changed how I felt. The remake arrived looking much closer to the proof, colours better matched and the little necklace and purse were there this time, so I ended up relieved rather than furious. It wasn’t perfect — a bit of a faff and I’d have liked faster communication earlier — but their fix was decent and they handled it properly in the end. If you’re ordering, be prepared to chase them a bit, though they will sort things out if you do.
Not worth the stress
Right, so this was meant to be a small, thoughtful present for my husband — I had very little left from benefits and wanted to do something nice, especially after a rough few weeks with a bad back and a stressful move. I found this site that looked legit, said it was UK-based, had pictures of hand-carved figures, let you pick skin colour, upload photos from different angles and even pay extra for a personalised name. It all looked reassuring, so I went ahead.
Thing is, the actual item was miles away from what was advertised. The statue arrived late (over two weeks after the date they promised) and it was damaged, bits flaking off and the cape coming loose. The personalised touch? Not carved at all — just a cheap sticker stuck on like an afterthought. The skin tone I chose ended up completely wrong, a few shades lighter than I selected, so it didn’t even look like the person I’d sent photos of. The little mug the figure was holding had a handwritten-looking slogan, when the site showed a neat printed “best boss ever” — you could tell straight away it was a shabby copy.
Delivery was the main headache — they gave a UK timeline but clearly shipped from elsewhere, and when I chased them about the delay I got slow, vague replies that didn’t fix anything. I did manage to get them to acknowledge the damage eventually, but getting a refund or a decent offer was like pulling teeth. Overall customer service felt uninterested; standard scripted replies and not much follow-through.
On the plus side, the ordering process itself was easy and the photos upload worked fine, so that part was straightforward. But given the late delivery, the poor quality, and how they handled my complaint, I can’t recommend them. I was gutted — it was meant to be a special surprise and it just added stress instead. If you need something reliable, especially on a tight budget, I’d look elsewhere. That face in a box
not loose, not stiff, a gentle bob that gives it life when you nudge it. Holding it I kept smiling, and then doubting my own taste for spending this much on a gift. It’s one of those things you keep turning over in your hands, noticing small bits the artists got spot-on — the set of the shoulders, the way the smile sits, even a tiny quirk in the hair.
