the first time I bought from this outfit (yes, based in China, not exactly hidden but not shouted about either) it went surprisingly well. I used my credit card — instinct, not heroics — and in about a fortnight the thing turned up. I was tinkering with it on a Saturday, kids in the next room, thinking “right, this actually works,” and felt proper pleased. That’s why I can’t give a total roasting; it did do the job in the end. Fast forward to the next release I fancied (Christmas time). Same routine: ordered, got a tracking number, all normal. Then the tracking said “attempted delivery, unable to deliver.” Which was weird because I was home the whole day — holiday, pies in the oven, doorbell not a sound. The parcel seemed to shuttle through half the world and then disappear into a courier black hole. I looked up the local courier’s site and their definition of “unable to deliver” basically means “you live somewhere we can’t be bothered to get into easily,” like gated bits or awkward flats. Calling them? Ha. You don’t call, you click tickets into the void. I submitted two tickets from different devices just in case the internet god favoured me, and each time got an auto-reply saying redelivery scheduled. Two weeks later: nada. So I bothered customer support. Their first reply was “we’ll contact the shipper” (which translated to radio silence), then “we’ll send you a small gift” (which translated to “we’d like you to wait longer for something you didn’t pay for”), and finally a flat-out refusal when I asked for a refund. At that point I phoned my card company and put in a dispute. I’d prefer not to be the sort of person who drags banks into things, honestly, but once I did that the bank refunded me — full stop — and I breathed properly for the first time since the tracking email. That moment, watching the money back into my account, was when I felt satisfied. No drama, no replacement, just closure. The seller then messaged offering a replacement if I cancelled the bank claim (erm, no thanks), and then kept trying to cajole me into giving the money back to get a refund direct from them. I did nothing. Money back, lesson learned. So, the product itself worked fine when it arrived — I use it for weekend tinkering and a bit of helpful gadgety stuff around the flat — but the delivery process and aftercare are flaky. Useful, not perfect; annoying admin, but ultimately sorted by my bank.
