a “technical error” meant they didn’t have the item. Fair enough, I guess, but why charge me immediately and not tell me? They offered options — credit, another item, or refund — so I asked for a refund. They said 10–14 days and I’d get an email. Day 18 now and I’m still waiting. They say they’re checking with finance, checking with the financial manager, checking, checking. I’m tempted to be harsh but they’ve at least acknowledged it; still, my doubts haven’t fully gone — there’s a nagging “will it arrive?” and in this case it’s the money coming back that’s the question.
Missing-name, quick-fix
order confirmation by email, then another message a week before the event saying everything was good to go and my name was on the canvas. So I went into fight night assuming it was done — that was my first impression, calm, job done. During the broadcast I kept an eye out and didn’t spot it. I rewound, I rewatched, I checked every angle, and four other people I watched with did the same. No sign of my name. That was odd and, to be honest, quite deflating; I’d imagined getting a framed bit of history on my wall.
We contacted Memento to ask which logo my name had been placed under. Their reply the next day was blunt: my name had not made it onto the canvas for UFC 299. They offered either a place on UFC 301 or a refund. We took the refund and it was processed within 24 hours. That part worked well — quick and tidy, and I’m appreciative of that. But what I can’t get over is the confirmation email the week of the fight that said the name was on the octagon. Either a mistake in their system or a miscommunication, I don’t know, and that’s the annoying bit. If we hadn’t checked, would it have just gone unnoticed? How often does this happen?
So, mixed feelings. The event itself was great — fights were excellent, favourites performed well — and I’m glad the company handled the refund promptly. Delivery failed in the one thing that mattered to me, but customer service fixed the money side quickly. I’m grateful for the refund, but still a bit disappointed that the original promise wasn’t met.Not smooth, but my son was chuffed
the item actually looked really good, better than the photos even, proper logo, decent finish — my lad loved it, nearly cried, so that surprised me. So, mixed feelings: terrible communication and awkward service, but the product itself redeemed the whole thing slightly. Would I use them again? Probably not without some clearer guarantees, but if you care most about the item and can stomach the faff, it might be worth the gamble.
Lucky turn after a shaky start
I actually found the auction because a mate sent me the link — we were having a laugh and I ended up putting a winning bid in. Then nothing arrived and, frankly, I assumed the worst. After a couple of weeks I fired off an email (a bit annoyed) and got a proper reply from Drew explaining there’d been a technical oversell. Not the answer I wanted, obviously, but what surprised me was how they handled it. They offered an exchange from the site, a credit note with no expiry (which I didn’t expect at all) or a refund. I asked for the exchange, picked something similar, and they processed it quickly and kept me posted the whole time — small updates, actually friendly. The moment I knew I was genuinely satisfied was when the replacement turned up sooner than they initially guessed and it was better than I’d hoped (nice little detail I hadn’t expected). So yeah, crunchy start, but a proper finish. Would I use them again? Definitely — if a pal tips me, I won’t think twice. Little hiccup, handled well; felt like they cared to sort it, which makes a big difference.
