I almost didn't buy these—was convinced they'd be dodgy, cheap knock‑offs. Took them on holiday last weekend to test them properly and my first impression was 'oh, blimey' — the lenses are surprisingly clear, better than I expected. That said the fit wasn't the same as the shop try‑on and I had a niggle about the frame wobble. Customer replies were slow, but delivery was quick. So doubts reduced, not entirely gone.
Odd invoice but decent outcome
Halfway through sorting paperwork for a supplier stand I realised the invoice looked odd — they'd left VAT at 0% but kept the same total. I ordered with our UK VAT ID hoping for the usual zero-rate, but that tweak meant I nearly paid extra. I flagged it, and at first replies were sparse and slow, which was annoying. In the end I rejected the delivery and they refunded the item cost, which surprised me by turning up in my account sooner than I expected. Shame they didn't cover the freight, but the ability to refuse delivery and actually get a refund was a relief. Overall, I'm cautiously pleased — useful to know for next time.
Not thrilled, but not a total write-off
the pair I got felt a different size to the shop ones, which annoyed me — nothing catastrophic, just not what I expected. I sent them back using the return slip they provided (I thought that was meant to be safer), and then things got messy. They said the parcel arrived empty and sent a photo of an empty box and some comments about the carrier’s recorded weight. I wasn’t looped into any of those emails, so it felt like their side of the story was the only one being heard. After I posted a blunt review, customer care finally rang me (a while later) and admitted there’d been a problem in shipping and arranged a refund. Relief, for sure — but there was no real apology for the hassle or for making me feel accused, which left a bad taste. So: the refund system ultimately worked, and the product itself seemed okay when it wasn’t mismatched, but the delivery and the way they handled me could be a lot better. Might shop again? Probably not without being very cautious.
Not really worth the hassle
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this unless you don’t mind surprises — the end price turned out the same as buying locally and that annoyed me more than it should. I first spotted their deal because a colleague sent me a link (thought it was a good bargain), so I went ahead and ordered a pair of glasses. The website showed “free shipping” and my receipt looked final, so I genuinely assumed that was that. A few days later UPS rang asking for an extra $60 import fee. That was a proper surprise — I don’t make many international purchases so I hadn’t been primed for import charges. I got in touch with the company and, to their credit, everyone was polite and helpful on the phone; they weren’t able to do anything about the fee. But the explanation they pointed me to was buried in some tiny blurb on their site — hardly front and centre at checkout — and that’s the real problem. If you’re advertising “no shipping” you should be clearer about country-specific import costs, maybe a checkbox or a big notice on the purchase page so people don’t get stung. It’s frustrating because the savings evaporated once I paid the charge, and you end up waiting longer for something that, in the end, costs as much as buying from the shop round the corner. I’m a bit annoyed but not furious; just wish they were more up-front. If you’re tempted by a discount, double-check your country’s import rules or be ready to lose the saving — that’s my takeaway.
