Pleased, with small caveats 14 April 2026

I grabbed a bottle a few weeks ago after reading a couple of decent reviews. I was a bit sceptical, to be honest — a lot of beard stuff promises the moon. First impression? Nice weight to the glass and neat pump. That pump became my favourite part. It's simple, no mess, and you can very easily dial in how much oil you get; for my nine-inch beard I settled on six drops, sometimes seven. It sounds fussy, but it matters. The oil itself feels rich without being gloopy. It spreads without tugging and I can comb it through without too much resistance, which is good because I wash and apply after a warm shower when hair is softer. Scent-wise there are two distinct ones. One is lighter, slightly sweet with a woody hint, and the other is darker, smokier, oud-like. The darker one sat closer to my face but never became cloying — I could still smell it but not get a headache. The lighter one lasted all day with gentle wafts. I did find the bottle's pump could stick now and then, a tiny annoyance, nothing dramatic but worth mentioning. Price-wise it's not cheap, but compared to other niche brands it feels fair for what you get. I tried using it alongside my regular beard butter and a small moustache wax; they played nicely together, the scent didn't vanish and the hold remained. Overall I went from sceptical to actually pleased. Nothing is perfect — the occasional pump hiccup is there — but the balance between viscosity and spreadability, and the honest scent profiles, won me over. Would recommend if you want something a bit more refined than supermarket stuff, without paying silly boutique prices. It's become part of my routine, I reach for it most mornings now, almost without thinking.
