    Quietly underwhelming

I bought this because I drink coffee every morning and fancied an instant that actually felt like brewed stuff. The parcel arrived quicker than I expected — courier left it on the step, no fuss — and customer service replied to a question about refills pretty promptly, which was nice. The coffee itself is very mild; tried 1.5 tsp, then 2 tsp, still kind of a whisper rather than a proper cup. Not bad, cleaner than the bargain supermarket stuff, and it slots into my mid‑morning routine, but I was hoping for more punch.

    Not what I needed

I wanted a decent bag to get me through early shifts after moving flat. No ceremony, just something reliable. It arrived in decent time. The problem is the coffee itself. It's flat and almost scentless. There’s no real aroma, no body. It tastes thin, like an attempt rather than the thing. I kept hoping it would open up with a stronger extraction but it didn't. I paid about £41 for this. I was annoyed. You can find better budget beans. Not what I expected from a 'premium' label. A shame, really, honestly.

    Decaf that doesn't sulk

I’d been told by my GP to cut down on caffeine — heart palpitations and rubbish sleep — so I was expecting decaf to taste like wet cardboard. Found Truestart’s Swiss Water option and thought I'd give it a go. Honestly, pleasantly surprised. The beans brew up like proper coffee, decent crema, and you can still sip it slowly without feeling cheated. I had a small hiccup with the online order (wrong pack size) but the helpdesk sorted it quickly and even refunded part I asked about — polite people, no faff. All in all, does the job and makes mornings nicer without the jitters.

    Surprisingly decent instant coffee

I bought this a bit on a whim, mostly because the packaging and the blurb sounded nicer than the usual jars on the shelf. To be honest I was sceptical — instant coffee has let me down before — so I went into it with low expectations. Made my first cup with milk, no sugar, and after the first sip I actually smiled. It’s smoother than I imagined, a bit more rounded, and it holds up when you add milk. I did a quick compare with the cheapest brand I had in the cupboard and, while it’s not night-and-day, there’s a definite upgrade in flavour and mouthfeel. Would I shout about it from the rooftops? No, but I’m glad I tried it. My little worry about being fooled by marketing faded, and I feel content with the buy. If you’re on the fence, try a small jar first — you might be pleasantly surprised, and it’s worth it if you like a simple, reliable cup.

    Not what I expected

there’s a real coffee note, no obvious artificial aftertaste, which was a surprise. It’s not identical to fresh espresso of course, but as instant goes it sits up there with the better ones I’ve tried — smoother, less bitter, you can actually pick out a bit of character. Packaging is nicely done too, simple and the colour works, but the taste is what sold it. Bought two jars via Amazon after the recommendation. Still a tad wary of instant in general, but this one converted me enough to order again. Not cheap, but worth it if you’re picky like me, and a smaller can would be handy.

That awkward moment when a coffee jar becomes a glass grenade

polite, practical, and actually remembered details from our messages. Then Jess took over for the follow-up and was just as warm. Slightly emotional over a lid? Maybe, but the exchange felt real, not like chatting to a bot. They didn’t just say “sorry” and leave it at that — they went the extra mile, tracked down a lid, and then surprised me by sending a whole new jar in the post. Arrived with a cheeky note on the box and a little handwritten-ish message inside. It made me smile; it felt like the sort of small kindness you don’t see much of now. The coffee itself is decent — tasty enough for my morning shakes and for switching up from the usual supermarket brands. It isn’t perfect (the roast’s a touch inconsistent between batches sometimes), but for the price it’s solid and the packaging is very reuse-friendly. Delivery was straightforward and faster than I’d guessed, and the personal touch from the team made the whole thing feel like more than a transaction. My one bit of advice to others: don’t throw away spare lids, label jars if you decant, and if you do need help, don’t be shy to ask the company — they actually do respond. Overall, not flawless, but brilliant customer service and a proper reminder that small companies can still get the human side right.
