record and show clearly.
Fitting on my GS1300 was straightforward. The sticky pads held up, one under the beak and one just above the radar at the rear; plenty of cable length and routing was simple — I used a long thin rod (a golf alignment stick did the trick) to feed the cable to the rear, took me under 15 minutes once I knew what I was doing. The unit responds to gloved taps which is handy, and there’s a rear mirror mode that’s actually useful on congested roads. CarPlay works over Wi‑Fi and is smooth, doesn’t hog Bluetooth, so my intercom keeps working and navigation audio routes fine to my Fodsport unit.
Support worries are understandable given some forum posts, but I had a firmware hiccup (no MPH toggle on shipped firmware) and support sorted it quickly — sent a firmware file that fixed it within hours, so credit where it’s due. Overall the device feels robust and practical, not flashy. You can spend more for similar features, but for my needs — clearer rear view, decent recordings, simple install — it’s a sensible buy. Slightly dry endorsement, but yeah, worth the money.Unexpectedly brilliant on the bike
one of the power leads had an inline box that died after a while, so I thought, here we go again. Contacted customer service and they sorted it — Nikki was the person who helped me and she actually followed it through, asked the right questions and sent a replacement cable in days. That turned my mild grumble into proper satisfaction. Price-wise it’s a fraction of the big names and hasn’t felt cheap. So yeah, started sceptical, ended up using it on every trip. Would buy again, no hesitation. Little rough edges, but solid kit and sensible support when something went wrong — rare combo.
Finally a quiet ride
a pro mechanic fitted the lot and it looked the part, so when the unit started throwing odd tyre-pressure warnings and the camera went a bit fuzzy in week one I was properly annoyed. Spent a few evenings swapping SD cards, checking footage on my laptop, and thinking “here we go again”.
But then, after a replacement TPMS and a firmware push from support (yes, it took a bit of back-and-forth and I did send a unit away), things calmed down. The moment of satisfaction was small — a clear, uninterrupted clip on a damp morning commute and no false pressure alerts for a solid fortnight. That felt like proof, proper proof, that the fixes stuck. The surprise was that once the gremlins were out, the camera actually outperformed what I expected for the price; crisp daytime footage and sensible alerts.
It’s not all roses: getting to that point took time, a bit of faffing with customer service and a loaner-less bike for a week, which was inconvenient. Still, now I’m using it every day and mostly forgetting about it, which says a lot. If you can tolerate a shaky start and want decent features without premium-brand prices, it’s worth a shot — just expect a bit of a bumpy ride at first.
