I remember the exact minute I realised this was worth it — I had just lifted the antenna up onto the telephone pole and everything suddenly started working, proper working, not that half-broken nonsense I had before. I’d tried another repeater that might as well have been a paperweight, so I did a fair bit of reading and compared models and costs. I went for the 10,000 sq ft unit because I figured a bigger reach couldn’t hurt, even if my house isn’t massive. Mounting it about 35 feet up on the pole made all the difference; once it had line of sight the LTE popped into life and the 800 MHz stuff improved too. Speeds went from basically nothing to about 29.2 Mbps down and 2.20 up — I could actually send photos and texts without dying a little inside waiting. Before that I was lucky to get a call that wouldn’t drop. It’s not magic, you do need to do your homework about tower distance and antenna height, and yes it’s a bit fiddly to set up, but the moment it worked I was genuinely relieved and pretty pleased. Would recommend it to anyone in the same boat — just check placement first and you’ll thank yourself.
Not convinced at first, pleasantly surprised
I wasn't convinced at first — I was sceptical after reading mixed feedback, and I nearly cancelled the order. I got it delivered and installed one cold Saturday (yes, poles and drilling involved), and the first impression was meh — weak gain at first. I phoned support and they stuck with me for a few hours (okay, maybe longer), walked me through tweaks, and suddenly the bars improved. Customer service was patient too. Really glad I persevered; feels solid now and worth the bother.
