    That slow, shrinking confidence

after a lot of pressure they agreed to an £80 refund. That felt like a win at the time because, well, something. It wasn’t much compared to what we lost — a day’s pay, the cost of mobile data top-ups — but getting any money back without endless arguing was a relief. Still, they said it wouldn’t appear until the end of the week. And they didn’t give a deadlock letter when I asked for one, which I found odd because I’d already made up my mind to escalate if needed. The refusal to provide paperwork felt like another small brick in a wall of indifference.
There were moments when their messaging was straight-up confusing. I was accused of having a new supplier lined up and that somehow 'confused the system'. I had only started looking for a switch because of repeated failures. Using my attempt to leave as a reason not to fix my connection felt manipulative. It made me more certain that loyalty means little if things go wrong.
I’ve dealt with worse companies before — one had endless admin fees, another messed up billing repeatedly — so I didn’t expect perfection. Still, I expected some ownership. That didn’t happen. When staff blamed the system or payment timings, it sounded more like excuses than explanations. Yet, to be fair, one person did try to be helpful. Not a miracle worker, but at least not dismissive. It’s the kind of small human detail that keeps you from burning every bridge straight away.
At the moment I’m moving to another provider. Part of my initial doubt — “is it worth switching?” — was proved right in that the switch is needed. My doubts about customer care didn’t disappear. The £80 refund was an unexpected patch, but it doesn’t cover the stress or the disruption to someone vulnerable in the house. If you’re weighing up a move because of price, also factor in patience and how they handle problems. In my case the lower price came with a higher headache, and that’s something I didn’t fully expect when I signed up.

    Overall

    Switched and surprisingly pleased

glad I switched — overall made the change without drama and the support actually helped. I needed a new fibre connection because my old big-name provider was slow and patchy, and I also have a fairly fiddly home setup with a custom ASUS router and PPPoE that I didn’t want messed about with. From day one the comms were clear enough, and Justice was the main person who kept things moving — polite, patient, and she followed up when she said she would, which you’d be surprised how rare that is. The engineer turned up in the window, was tidy and answered the daft questions I asked about cables and the ONT handshaking with my kit. Speeds have been pretty much what they said: advertised 1Gbps, wired real-world sitting around the mid‑800s and wireless bouncing between about 500–800 depending where I am in the house. It’s not flawless — there were a couple of minor hiccups getting PPPoE nailed down because my network isn’t standard, but they accommodated it and didn’t try to shoehorn me into a basic setup. I’ve been with them for nearly a year now after the move and still happy overall; I’ve spoke to David and Toby too and they were helpful. Price felt fair given the performance, though not the absolute cheapest. What I appreciated most was the human side: callbacks on time, clear explanations and actually sticking to arrangements. If you’ve got a complex setup and want decent service without the usual faff, this is a sensible choice.
