We needed the app because our last guided tour was a bit of a shambles, and up in the mountains there’s barely any phone signal anyway. The exact moment I knew I was happy was when the app warned us about a tight hairpin and the easy trail coming up — proper relief, I mean. The GPS kept working offline, it gave heads-ups for views and accurate trail difficulty, and it saved us faff and guessing. I honestly expected glitches; instead it was calm, useful and, yes, a bit clever. Glad we bought it.
A flawed helper
I was hesitant to buy this—mainly because I can't walk far and needed something solid for a Yellowstone/Grand Teton trip, plus I'd had dodgy tech before. The downloads and choice of route packs were actually pretty good, which surprised me, but the sat‑nav missed turnoffs, went quiet in the Wyoming mountains and even showed us stuck in a field on the map. After two days of fiddling I gave up. I've worked in corporate IT, so I know what's expected. Bit of a pity, really.
