toy, towel, treats — all that was missing was a tiny crown. The enclosed balcony was a relief too, we could leave the patio door ajar and not worry about him making a run for it, which meant we could actually relax with a cuppa on the sofa without one eye on the dog. The kitchen and living space felt well thought-out for a holiday stay, everything you need without faff. We made good use of the outdoor area by day (coffee and toasting marshmallows), and in the evenings the little chimenea made it cosier than expected — perfect for star-gazing, if that’s your sort of thing.
One of the nicest surprises was the little pantry at reception with locally sourced bits and pieces. The coffee there was surprisingly good and that small detail made mornings feel a bit more special. They’d also left some treats out for the dogs in reception, which seemed to be a running theme: people here have actually thought about pets, not just tolerated them. We spent a lot of time walking in the woods — loads of new trails and little features that kept us exploring. Met Mark along one of the paths who’s clearly put effort into the trails; you can tell someone’s been tending the place with attention. It’s the sort of thing you notice after a few visits and appreciate.
We had a nice moment with Colin too — he’s as friendly as people say, approachable and actually interested in how your stay is going. On this trip they’d gone above and beyond when they heard we’d got engaged; staff left a few thoughtful surprises which was sweet and very human. I’ve had dodgy customer service at other holiday parks before, where check-in felt like an administrative chore, so it’s refreshing to have friendly faces at every turn here.
If I’m honest, the only small gripe is that seven days goes by far too quickly — Bear made that very clear on packing day with his dramatic sulk. But that’s not the park’s fault. All in all, it’s a proper gem for dog-owners who want fuss-free comforts, nice walks and staff who actually smile and remember your dog’s name. We’ll be back.
