Highlights of Sri Lanka tour
The trip to Sri Lanka was absolutely amazing, no doubt about that. However, I felt like there was just too much crammed into the schedule for my liking. Even with a fantastic guide and driver, everything felt rushed. One instance that comes to mind was when we hopped on a train to a tea plantation, only to arrive in the dark and then leave early the next morning - that felt like a bit of a whirlwind. And let's not even get started on the food situation - lukewarm buffets for pretty much the entire 16-day trip, apart from a pretty mediocre packed lunch on the train. Sri Lanka itself is a breathtaking place, but I'd recommend opting for a tour that offers better food and a more relaxed pace.
Uncovered Japan tour
The Uncovered Japan tour was absolutely brilliant. Our guide was top-notch, spoke English like a pro, and knew everything there was to know about the places we went to. The places we stayed in were nice and cosy. The tour was full-on with things to see, but that's what we love about this tour company - they include all the must-see spots. The food was diverse, and we liked having some western meals now and then. All in all, we had a fabulous time on the Uncovered Japan tour and will definitely be booking with them again.
Cambodia group tour
I really enjoyed my Cambodia group tour, it was an incredible experience. Our guide, Mr Sokhoeun Bout, was amazing. He knew so much about the country and shared his insights with passion. His sense of humour and kindness made the trip even better. We got to see a lot of Cambodia, from local NGOs to amazing places like Angkor Wat. The hotels were lovely and the food was great. Our driver was very good and made sure we were safe. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone wanting to explore Cambodia, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Vietnam Mekong River Cruise and Cambodia tour
I've just come back from my fourth tour with this company. This time, we went on the Vietnam Mekong River Cruise and Cambodia tour for 22 days. I'd really suggest this company - our guide in Cambodia, Solky, was absolutely fantastic and really made the tour special. He knew so much, was so kind, and made us feel like part of the family.
Golden Wedding celebration trip
I was really looking forward to our Golden Wedding celebration trip, but it didn't live up to my expectations. The group was too big and had people with different fitness levels, which made it hard to keep up with the fast-paced tour guide. This meant some group members struggled to keep up, which made the experience less enjoyable for all of us. The Japanese food we were served during the tour wasn't great and didn't match what we had hoped for. On top of that, when bad weather disrupted our plans to sail on Lake Ashi and ride the cable car, the compensation we got was disappointing - just two free drinks at dinner. Although our tour guide was nice, they seemed overwhelmed trying to please everyone, which made the whole experience feel disjointed and unsatisfying. In the end, I felt let down and wished we had picked a different destination for our celebration.
Japan Uncovered tour experience
My time on the Japan Uncovered tour was really good. We got to see so much of Japan, like cherry blossoms and experience its unique culture. The hotels were nice, the food was tasty but a bit different from what we're used to, and the places we went to were amazing. However, the transportation wasn't great considering the price we paid. The coaches didn't even have basics like toilets and USB charging points, which was a letdown. The tour guides were a mix - the first one struggled with language and communicating which made it hard for us to understand everything. Also, they weren't clear on how fit you needed to be for the tour, which meant some people found it tough to keep up with all the walking. Despite these problems, I still had a good time overall, but the high cost might make me check out other tour companies next time.
Vietnam bus tour
We recently went on a bus tour of Vietnam and it was such an amazing experience exploring this beautiful and exotic country. Our tour guide, Mr Lap, was the absolute highlight of the trip. He was so knowledgeable, passionate, and had a great sense of humour which made the tour really enjoyable. Lap really went out of his way to make sure everyone in the group was well looked after and informed. He made us feel at ease from the start and we appreciated all the interesting information he shared about Vietnam's history and current events. Travelling with a group of lovely people also enhanced the overall experience. The food at the restaurants was a bit hit and miss, but the accommodation was top-notch, with lovely hotels and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. We would definitely think about doing another tour with this company in the future.
Japan travel tour
I went on a trip to Japan with a popular tour company and to be honest, it was a bit of a letdown. Things started off badly when we got to the hotel and they said we couldn't check in until 3 pm, even though we'd been travelling for ages and it was only lunchtime. We ended up having to pay extra to check in early, which really put a downer on the whole trip.
Small group travel experience
My first time doing small group travel was a total disaster. I've had good times with other companies in the past, but this trip with 28 people was just awful. The guide was no good, didn't know what she was doing, and struggled with English. I had requested a small group tour, so I was let down by the size of the group. The tour was pricey and definitely did not meet my expectations.
Expensive holiday cancelled
I've used this company quite a few times for trips in the past and always had good experiences. However, my recent experience with them was really disappointing. I went to a holiday show and spoke to one of their staff members about adding something extra to my holiday package. They said it could be done, I paid a deposit, and everything seemed fine. I even booked an extra flight. But just a few days after making the final payment, I got a cancellation notice for my whole holiday which cost me over £20,000. When I called customer service, they said they couldn't process such a big refund straight away, but after lots of calls, I did eventually get my money back. What really got to me was that the company didn't communicate, apologise, or explain anything after making such a huge mistake.
Jewels of Japan tour
My recent experience on the Jewels of Japan tour was really disappointing. The whole trip was a mess, to be honest. The coach left a couple of times without everyone on board, which meant going back to pick them up. The organization was all over the place, and our guide didn't seem to have a clue about how to run a tour properly. Getting tickets for attractions was a total nightmare, wasting loads of time and causing lots of confusion. We didn't get much info about the places we visited, the history, or the local food, which was a letdown as we were promised a real cultural experience. The audio equipment they gave us was useless, so we had to listen in on other tours to learn anything. They'd just drop us off somewhere and leave us to figure things out for ourselves, which wasn't what we were expecting from a top-notch tour. It was a complete waste of money, and I definitely won't be booking another tour with this company in the future.
Vietnam and Cambodia tour
Wow, we had such an amazing time on our trip to Vietnam and Cambodia! It was really fun hanging out with a great group and our guide was fantastic. Despite it being super busy and us living out of our suitcases, it felt like a fancy version of backpacking and we definitely felt like true adventurers. The people we encountered were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable! The only downside was the fancy hotel in Ben Tre where the staff weren't very helpful and they tried to overcharge us for drinks. Wendy Wu should definitely reconsider including that hotel on their list! Other than that, the trip was incredibly memorable and definitely worth every penny.
Expensive Japan Tour
My partner and I recently treated ourselves to a fancy Japan tour, and I have to say, it was definitely worth every penny! From the get-go, Wendy Wu went above and beyond our expectations. Our group of 28 fellow travellers was amazing, and our Tour Guide, who we affectionately called ‘Jimmy’, was an absolute star. He made sure everything went smoothly and that we were always well looked after. The attention to detail in every aspect of the trip was remarkable, leaving us with nothing to fret about except having a good time. The range of accommodations, from simple to luxurious, meant we were always comfortable, with a personal highlight being the rooftop onsen at the Fujisan Mishima Tokyu Hotel, where we saw the sunrise over Mount Fuji. The tour was jam-packed with activities, leaving little free time, but the experiences, like the Snow Monkey Park, were truly unforgettable. If I had to be picky, I would have preferred more time in Tokyo to explore the city, rather than visiting the National Museum and Skytree. In general, we were lucky with great weather, even though we missed the peak cherry blossom season. The food throughout the tour was delicious, although breakfasts could have been more consistent. All in all, this tour was fantastic and I highly recommend Wendy Wu.
Wendy Wu Tour
I recently went on a trip with Wendy Wu and it was alright I guess. There were loads of people in our group, so the restaurants we visited didn't really have quality food. Plus, the train journey was really brief, so we didn't even get to go as fast as they promised. Our guide wasn't very good either, they didn't tell us much about Japan. Also, those with dietary restrictions had to sit separately from their friends. But hey, at least the others on the tour were nice and we got to see some awesome things like cherry blossoms.
Best of Borneo tour
I recently went on the Best of Borneo tour and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The tour guide met us at the airport just like they said they would, and all the transport and flights were really well organized. We were treated to some really tasty food throughout the trip, and they even made sure to accommodate any specific dietary needs we had. The itinerary was great, taking us to cities, temples, and the incredible wildlife that Borneo is known for. The best part for me was spending three days in the jungle, it was truly unforgettable. I want to give a special mention to our guide, Selvam, who was not only super knowledgeable but also really kind. He went out of his way to make sure every guest had the best holiday experience possible.
Bespoke 2-week Thailand trip
Our two-week custom trip in Thailand was absolutely amazing from beginning to end. The team listened to our requests and put together an itinerary that suited all our needs at a great price. They kept us updated throughout the planning process and sent over a pack with all the info we needed a few weeks before we left. Any extra questions we had were quickly answered by email. The actual trip itself went without a hitch - all transfers were on time, excursions were well thought out, and the guides, especially Olivia in Bangkok, were brilliant. The hotels we stayed in were clean, comfy, and in great locations. Overall, we had a fantastic trip and will definitely use this company again in the future.
My first tour experience
So, I decided to go on this tour to see all the amazing places in Turkey. But you know what? All we did was spend ages on a bus just staring out the window like we were on some school trip. And when we finally arrived at a cool site, we only had like 10 minutes to have a look around. Not cool, mate. The hotels we stayed at weren't great either, felt like I was staying in a motel. And don't even get me started on the chaos at the airport pick up - total madness! Also, there were more people on the tour than they told us there would be, making it even more crowded and irritating. I was not a fan at all. And when I complained to customer service, they didn't even care - so disappointing.
Japan tour
The itinerary for my tour in Japan was pretty decent, with some interesting spots to check out and a lovely tour guide. However, there were a few things that didn't quite hit the mark and left me feeling a bit let down. Firstly, the whole "easy" rating for the tour was way off. I mean, we were walking more than 5 miles most days, up and down hills, in that super muggy heat. The pace was just too quick, hardly any time to rest and no stops for a cuppa in the morning or afternoon.
'Jewels of Japan' tour
I've just returned from a tour that was a real let down, from beginning to end. The airport pick up was a disaster, the hotels were not up to scratch, the food was always cold and unappetising, and we were always rushing with no time to chill out. The journey to the airport at the end was a nightmare too, making the whole trip even more stressful. Definitely not the magical experience I was expecting for my 70th birthday. It was a total rip off and a major disappointment. And to top it off, the customer service was appalling, with Wendy Wu dismissing my complaints and offering a measly £100 voucher for my next holiday. Absolutely ridiculous in my opinion!
Jewels of Japan
The tour cost me 8k and to be honest, I wasn't too pleased with the service overall. The people in the sales team did their job well, but the service after I paid up was a bit of a letdown. The guide's English skills weren't great, a few hotels were pretty basic, and the tour itself felt so tiring with hardly any time to relax. Those long coach journeys on not-so-great coaches made it even more uncomfortable. Japan is beautiful and all, but better service would've definitely made the trip better.
